What if Eric berry was in this class...?

I understand your point, but I think that point-of-view is only relevant when viewed through the lens of hindsight. Each of the teams you mentioned had no such foreknowledge as they went into the draft.

I really think at some point you simply identify the player you like. You do what you need to do to acquire him, hope your scouting department did their due diligence and hope for the best.

I think if the Cowboys' brass and scouting department feel confident in what they see in Peterson as a player and compared to the rest of the comparable talent, they'll make the move. If not, they simply won't.
Fair enough.

It is a deep class for DBs though, so I personally would not want to give up a 2nd rounder to move up, but I agree that if you absolutely love a player (a dangerous trap to fall into, btw) you can't completely fault a team for going for him.

In the end, if we end up with PP, I'll be very happy as long as we don't sell the farm to get him.

Must be the wrong thread Uno.

In this thread, I don't see any mention by anyone whining about a player from the past that we didn't pick.

Maybe an old thread that reminded you of something?

Green ranked 7th here. Safe to say its a close debate between AJ and Dez.

Also safe to say Im not the biggest fan of you throwing anything against a wall leaving it up to someone else to prove you wrong, then you just move along to your next probably wrong theory.

A majority of draftniks have Green much higher than they had Bryant, the debate is between Jones and Bryant.

as an example WalterFootball's consensus shows this

Below are the average big board position of the top prospects in the 2011 NFL Draft. I looked at six different big boards: Mel Kiper (ESPN), Todd McShay (ESPN), Rob Rang (CBS), Scott Wright (DraftCountdown.com), Tony Pauline (Sports Illustrated) and Wes Bunting's (NFP). I will also add Mike Mayock's big board when he releases it. "

AJ Green is #2, Julio Jones is #8.

Im not sure where Dez ranked last year, but im sure it was closer to 8 than it was to 2.

We got a steal in Dez for where we drafted him, but arguing he is a better prospect than AJ Green who is arguably the best since Randy Moss is just silly.

Charles Rogers, Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, and Calvin Johnson were all better prospects than AJ Green.

Thats fair to argue, but it can be argued Green's better than all of them. I wasn't following the draft during any of those prospects coming out so I can't argue it, but im sure there are people that can and would make a more than legitimate argument.

Yea, can someone make R2A's argument for him?

Not saying that, but Walter Cherepinsky has called Green the best prospect since Calvin Johnson on multiple occasions, so that does overlap the argument that started this, Dez vs Green.

Im not sure Green is better than Julio Jones. Jones was slated to go 14 for months now and may be rising to 4 or 6 come April. Some have AJ Green top 3-5. Just like Dez Bryant was.

.

Personally I dont see anything Green can do that Dez cant. I take Dez over any WR in the league and any in the draft. He stepped up as the best WR on the team as a rusty rookie coming off a TC injury. He had a chance at ROY. At a position where its notoriously hard for rookies to come into the league and perform up to their maximum abilities.

Many people say Dez would go top 3 if the draft was done over. W/ Bradford and Suh going ahead of him. That is saying something since usually QB's, DE's, LT's emerge and push down WR's.

To me AJ Green has an awful lot to live up to if hes 10X better than Dez Bryant is. And its close enough to the point where neither side is silly for choosing one

Dez Bryant Scouting Report
By Matt McGuire

Strengths:
Above average height
Good muscle definition
Great hands
Will come back to the quarterback and present a window
Dominant on jump balls
Attacks ball at apex
Gets off line of scrimmage
Coordinated and can adjust to the ball
Knows how to set up a receiver and flip their hips
Athletic
Nice sideline awareness
Tough to tackle
Explosive punt returner
Good running vision
Decent amount of upside

Weaknesses:
Route running is still suspect
Rounds off digs and deep outs
Not very fast
Lacks deep speed
Could be more elusive
Doesn't always generate maximum YAC
Needs to eat up cushion more quickly in off man
Needs to work on reading coverages as he does not always identify the zone
A little sluggish coming out of breaks

Summary: Bryant is a talented receiver, but he doesn't seem to project as a No. 1 wideout at the next level. He has the skill set of a dominant No. 2 who can really help a quarterback in the red zone and on third down.

Player Comparison: Chad Ochocinco. Ochocinco and Bryant have very similar builds and great ball skills, but unfortunately lack above average speed.

Dez Bryant scouting report, I think your looking at his prospects a lil too happy eyed. He was a great prospect, but he had some big flaws.

and at this point, Mike Williams would be going #3 over Dez to the team that has him if the draft was re-done if they went WR. Would be foolish for TB to take Dez over Mike Williams in a redraft

You got yourself a horrible scouting report. Which has already been proven wrong.
