What if FA starts before a new CBA?

If the CBA is still up in the air, there might be very little activity- except by the teams that are so under the cap they do not have to worry. They could swoop in and score big without a whole lot of competition. That might torpedo our chances of getting any good FA's this year.

Gentlemen,


1) The CBA dictates that the last year be uncapped (2007), but also controls how fast contracts can escalate, via the 30 % rule. But this will not effect this year, 2006. FAs in '07 could score big, but I'm betting that a new CBA will be in effect by then.

2) I wouldn't agree that we are one of the teams w/ a lot of cap room, although it could improve, depending on who we cut before 3/3/06.

there will be an agreement though, cuz both sides dont' want a lockout

What he is saying is that even though that link says we have 2 mill in cap room we actually have 14 million without making any moves.

That could increase with cuts such as 7 mill for Glover would bump us up to about 21 mill in cap room
