What if the drafted rookies are a bust?

You really can't determine if a player is a true bust until 3 or so years down the line.

Wow. I didn't know anybody over 5 years old actually said, "what if.....?" That has to be the silliest beginning of a sentence in the history of the language.

No. Not like that at all. What you're describing is a group of people complaining about--literally--everything, and then acting like they have special powers of perception when some of it comes to pass. That isn't difficult, or impressive.

that's how the psychic business operates

If we are relying on rookies to get us over the hump, then the expectations are too high for 2014...I am hopeful that Martin and Lawrence fill their roles well and are covered by their respective lines...but, we don't crash and burn, nor do we go to the superbowl based on those two guys...all of the rest from the draft have the expectations of where they were selected, meaning, their expectation isn't "lofty" to begin with...thus, "what if they are busts" is a type of non-issue for me for 2014...it does matter for depth in the future

I can't see Martin being a bust, Lawrence maybe but I'm not gonna worry about that now

I know the season is a long time away but think about it, what happen if all those picks where for nothing?

I know some of the rookies will stand out this season and deliver what we want out of them but happens if it there a bust or they don't live up to our expectations?

The 2009 Draft was one of the worst in franchise history and they won their only playoff game in the last decade and a half that season. If this class busts it will be more about the ramifications beyond 2014.

The 2009 Draft was one of the worst in NFL history.

I'm sure there's been plenty of drafts by other teams that were worse than the Cowboys 2009 draft. There's teams that have whiffed on an entire draft that included a top 10 pick and a high second round pick. The 2009 draft was arguably the worst draft in Cowboys history due to missing on all 12 picks the team had. You would think with 12 picks you would hit on at least 2-3 players but the only player who provided anything was David Buehler a deep kicker who was gone after 3 seasons. What set the 2009 draft up for failure was not having a first or second round pick.

Jerry kept trading down leaving the Cowboys with a third round pick as their first pick. The draft is a crapshoot regardless of how high you're picking but once you get to the third round it becomes a real roll of the dice. Jerry clearly overestimated the talent the Cowboys had claiming he didn't see anyone who could start so he began looking for backups and special team players.

The bigger question is what they arent busts. What are people going to complain about next?

The team folds and the world as we know it will be changed forever.

Don't spend a lot of time around writers, do you?
