What if a close relative or friend played for the team you hate the most? Could you root for them? Would you wear their gear? How about when they play your favorite team?

For me that would be the Eagles and to be honest I am not sure I could root for or cheer for anyone that played for them.

I would root for them (the person, not the team) except for when they play the Cowboys.

Well I wouldn't brag and trash talk after they lose, but I would congratulate them on winning. I don't know if I could root for them...they need to be able to take a little trash talk.

Wouldn't wear their gear thats a little too skip bayless for me.

If they played for the cowboys...lets just say I even root for Patrick Crayton to be successful.

If my son played for the Commanders I would refuse to acknowledge him as my son and I would divorce his mother.

:spanking:

This is a hypothetical question isn't it? :shoot5:

The closest I've been to this situation is when a friend of mine played for the Mavs (I'm a Suns fan). I supported him; always wanted him to play well, but never wanted them to win against us!

That pretty much sums it up.

If it's a close friend or relative, my like for that person would far outweigh my dislike for the team.

I wouldn't. But my father has been in this situation.

This was before I was born...

My uncle went to school with Joe Jacoby. When Joe went to the Commanders, every now and then he would send tickets to my uncle for him take some of our family to see a ball game. One of the games my dad went with my uncle to see was a Dallas game and my dad is a huge Cowboys fan. They went up to RFK Stadium and my dad was wearing his Cowboys gear, and ended up in a section where he was one of the few Cowboy fans. The Commanders fans were talking trash through most of the game, but my dad said he was doing the talking after the game because the Cowboys ended up beating the Commanders 31-30. He says he felt sorry for Joe but not the Commanders fans.

I'd support my friend/relative in anyway, shape,or form.EXCEPT, when they play the Cowboys. If they were a division rival,it be even harder to root for them, but I would,as long as the Cowboys were'nt directly effected by their play.(like scoring the game winning TD,that would keep us out of the playoffs,etc.).
