What if we actually paid our players early instead of waiting?

When it comes to big time players when was the last time one got extended or signed and you thought it was a steal for the team? Rarely happens. I believe it is because agents know this front office is dumb. I know this front office will wait a week before the deadline and then try to make a deal, they give all the real leverage to the agents. Micah's agent knows they won't trade him nor will they allow him to hit free agency, maybe they'd tag him it's that or sign him.

Didn't they sign Steele early?

I think the problem is not just when, but who. They knew they were going to sign CeeDee so why wait? The same with Dak. Clearly, the $60 million contract is a sign they had every intention of extending Dak, so again, why wait? Why sign a guy like Steele early and then make your top WR hold out?

If they have a plan on who they want to keep then why no just execute the plan as soon as possible to alleviate any confusion and also maybe save some money?
