What I'm Hearing -- A Deal With Minnesota?

I don't recall hearing this much uncertainty and posturing on draft day. This just makes me want Peterson more. No team is going to be willing to trade into 5 or 6 slot to reach for a QB. We can get there and still offer a blue-chip pick. We can put a package together to land a lock in the secondary and watch while this draft makes fools of a lot of GMs.

That sounds like the perfect trade down option for us if we can't trade up for Peterson. Plus the Vikes have a nice 3rd rounder but only if no tackles have gone off the board at 9 so we have a better shot at getting either Smith or Castonzo.
Just for that Jerry is going to go with the New England deal. You know how he hates going with the common concensus.

We could still have our choice of Watt, Smith, Castonzo or Jordan at #12.

:hammer:

Exactly the reason why this deal would get done. All depends on Peterson.

Uh yeah, this would be fantastic....

IF Minnisota had a 3rd round pick to trade.

They already gave it to the Patriots.

Uh oh!

Ha! Somebody got called out for fibbing! :laugh2:

You are right, they would have to give up 43.

I tried to throw Edmund Gates in there but I had to be fair and use the 4th to move up for Watkins.... Gates may even be a late 2nd anyway.

But I love the idea of Watkins. I will take a 7 year career from my early 2nd round pick

A couple of things I read is Watkins can probably start at RT from day one. (even though most project him as a guard) That opens up a lot of scenarios!

Minnesota's picks:

1 12 (12)
2 11 (43)
4 9 (106)
5 8 (139)
5 19 (150) from Giants
6 7 (172)
6 35 (200) compensatory selection
7 12 (215)
7 33 (236) compensatory selection

Demerits for Vela.

That might work, but then we're talking about giving them Picks 71 AND 110 in return, to balance things out.

Imagine if we had lost that final game against the Eagles in Week 17.

*opening can of worms*

Teams have to pay a premium when moving up for QBs. You don't go by the standard chart on those.

Lombardi said on Bill Simmons podcast yesterday that everyone he has talked to believes that it's a done deal that McNabb is going to go to the Vikings. The Vikings still believe they are still a Superbowl contender and they're going to go with a veteran QB next year. That doesn't mean they're necessarily out of the market for a young QB to groom, but I question if they want one so badly they're willing to trade up and then reach for a 2nd tier QB with a Top 10 draft pick.

But then again, if they love Jake Locker (as reported), they'll have to jump ahead of Shanny at #10.

This or the Houston trade is all I would do

If only we'd lost them all, we'd be in line for Cam Newton today. Holla! Who's with me?

Looking at McNabb's play last year, I think he's pretty close to being done.

Of course, maybe playing on the Commanders makes virtually any QB appear that way.
