Like most of you I want to see certain players improve and give us a glimpse of their potential.

But what I'm looking for most in tonights game is avoidance of what really cost us the game last week: PI penalties and turnovers. We had 3 (IIRC, but at least 2) pass interference penalties that gave the Chargers the ball inside the 10 yard line. In essence, we gave them 14-21 points off of easy TDs. Take away those points and award them whatever points you think they would have scored if they had to march the ball all the way down the field and, in my opinion at least, we don't lose that game. Even the lousy, and I mean lousy, special teams punt coverage didn't cost us what the PI penalties did.

Throw in Amendola's fumble during his return that also gave them a short field, and you have your game right there.

So I want to see:

1: Our CBs and safeties play like they are capable of playing and avoiding the penalties.

2: Stop the turnovers.

3: Good tackling

Good post. I hope that we'll see kick coverage teams sticking to their running lanes. It seems like such an elementary thing, but last week players were bunched together whenever the returner caught the ball. That's partially on both Coach Read and the players, so the blame is equally shared. Plug the running lanes and the opponents' starting field position will be to our advantage--not visa versa.
