What I'm Most Concerned/Curious To See...

I want to see how Jason Garrett calls and manages this game. I am really not worried about the defense. That's Wade's forte, what he knows and his body of work assures me with the talent we have, it should be a strength. Of course, that's what's exciting hence all the articles about what we will and wont see, etc. etc.

However, this will be Garrett's first time "under the lights" as an in-game playcaller. And while I have confidence in his smarts and knowledge of the game, there is a little something extra that separates the guys who just call plays and the guys who know how to manage a game and set up the opposition. Tempo, pace, the play clock, down and distance....all these things he must consider.

Should be interesting.

For me I think the big concern at least according to reports I have seen is the backup at NT outside of Fergy no one has been showing the ability to take over the spot.

I'm not sure how much you will find out about Jason Garrett in a pre-season game where plays are called to get a look at player more than it is about trying to put a game plan together. Chances are you will get a bit of an ideal during the 3rd pre-season game when most team use that game as a dress rehearsal for the season

I agree with Doomsday; you aren't going to see much in the form of playcalling from Garrett this early.

I am most interested in seeing how some of these young OL do (Free vs Freeney, Marten and McQuistan). I hope we've hit on a couple of those.

I also want to see Hurd, who supposedly has had a good camp. And I want to see Austin too. I also want to see Fasano being showcased a bit more and seeing how far he's come along.

Spencer and Carpenter on the defense particularly interest me.

Lastly, Nick Folk. Seriously. Props to the Elite Kicker Scout, Hostile, on that one.

I think you are correct, but since he has never done this job before, he might be looking at it differently than someone who has. He might actually spend the 1st quarter or 2 practising his theories on how to run a game instead of the usual way preseason games are done. As much as our players got to work out the kinks, so does a new coach that has never done this before.

I think the most we get from garrett is seeing what types of plays we can look forward to but putting together the game plan I just doubt we will see that in the 1st pre-season game.

Yes, I'm interested in seeing the Young OL and WR's and Backup NT's as well.

I am not really concerned with Jason Garrett's play calling. He was an NFL QB for several years and in that position, you have to recognize defenses and adjust your play at the line. I think he will do well.

I could care less about how he calls a pre-season game. He probably has about 6 plays that he's going to call all game.

This is exactly what I mean. Yes, it's only the first preseason game, and no, there will probably be no "game plan" per se. But he has never done it before. Besides calling the play, field position, etc. to consider, a big part of his job is making sure he gets the play in on time - enough time for audibles, etc. if necessary. I've read before that many successful OCs are usually a play or two ahead of the play they're calling -- how far has Garrett come in that regard?

As I said in my original post, he has never done it "under the lights." According to Wade, at least the 1st quarter is going to be first team, so I'm curious to see how well he able to develop a rythym and flow in our respective drives, the mix of plays, etc.

practising time management, getting in plays, the whole process will be important to watch

I doubt Stanback is playing, but can anyone confirm that?

yikes. Dont even bring him up. There is a million page thread on him already.

and no he isnt playing!

Injuries...that is really my main concern.

Obviously I don't want the team to lay an egg, but considering the staff is still installing schemes on both sides of the ball I will be understanding.
