If the OL seems well set (with McQuistan and Procter showing significant promise, Gurode and Columbo being re-signed), I'd be in favor of BPA with tie-breakers going in favor of NT, WR, a dynamic punt returner (who happens to play CB or WR), RB, and LB.
The Skyler Green experience hasn't happened. When you look at what Devin Hester has meant to the Bears, maybe he was worth a 2nd round pick after all. The Cowboys could use someone like that.
Totally agree, considering the situation and that I THINK BP plans on Proctor and McQ being the long-term solutions, I think we'll end up standing pat on the OL. We have Whitley coming back too and AJ will probably be gone. Might throw a late round draft pick at someone again.
I'm really hoping Stanley comes around at NT. We really can't afford to keep 3x NTs on the roster since they are only playing two downs anyway. I still think Fergi has 2-4 years of productivity left too.
I definitely agree on the Hester acquisition for the Bears. I thought Green would be something but when I saw him play in person during the Houston game, I realized he was going nowhere.
There are several guys in the next draft I like as ST+...Steve Breaston, Ted Ginn, and Aaron Ross.
Ross is the guy I think may end up being a steal because I think he's a very good cover CB in addition to being a pretty good punt returner. With TT coming back to return kicks plus Austin doing okay at it, all we really need is the explosive PR. I like Ross because I really think he could develop into a solid starting CB at some point in addition to returning punts and playing behind the OLD A Glenn in the meantime. Heck, if Ross turned into a starting caliber CB like Vasher did, maybe Henry becomes the #3 CB or starting FS.
I don't think Ross will go in the first round either, so the value should be there.
