The library lady half offered to bring me a christmas dinner and she included amuse bouche in the menu.

I axed the neighbor but he doesn't know.

OK, now I know. it is like hors de vors. why do they need to put fancy names on foods, huh?

It is more than an hors d'oeuvre, it usually is a full, complete dish compiled into one or two bites.

I don't know that the "complete dish" thing is the main differentiator, there are some pretty thoughtful and complex hors d'oeuvres. Size might be the key differentiator, as you said.

A "complete dish" as in intense flavor and they show the creative side of the chef. These are usually paired with wines or craft beers. The two are comparable but the main differential is size.
