What is Anthony Hitchens value?

He's been here what, 4 years.

Things to like about him, shows up to play every game. Has some position flex inside and out. Plays through injuries. Solid tackler. Plays well with Lee. Never in trouble off the field. Still relatively young.

Things that are meh, negligible ability to cover downfield, not strong against the run, gets washed out of plays some times, not a top 50 inside LB'er and never has been, really fits best as a backup LB'er.

How much is some team willing to pay for an average inside LB'er? How much would you pay? Forget the superlatives. There aren't that many. He's sort of a Manti Te'o type who signed a 2 year $5,000,000 contract with the Saints. What is Hitchens value?

He is a starting LB and would have to be replaced by a day 2 draft pick at worse.

For what he will cost, he should be resigned.

$4M a year should do it. I'd lock him up for 4 years. Use the high draft pick in a position of need.

Bingo. 4 year 20 million with 15 guarantee.

Yep, 4-5 million over 3-4years sounds about right to me too. David Harris has a base of $5 million for the Patriots. Similar production with Harris being better against the run than Hitch but also 34 years old. Some team could offer Hitch $ 6 mill. Would you play in that game?
That’s getting close to letting him walk. We would be gambling on having to use a draft pick to “try” to replace. We don’t know how much improvement Jaylon will have. Maybe offer him incentives that could add up to that. I may match that but wouldn’t be a 4 year deal. Maybe 2 years.

3yrs 12mil 8 guaranteed. Draft a stud remember how nice it was to have Ro out there when his mind was in the game. Need a stud like Ro without the off field issues.

I agree some what but that leaves Lee and Hitchens who have had injury issues and Jaylon who is coming off of a huge injury. I think another LB is needed

If we don't re-sign him LB'er moves close to the top of the list of priorities. Unless the nerve regenerates completely in his foot (no one is really talking about that now), I don't see Jaylon ever being 100% pre-injury Jaylon. Even if we do re-sign Hitch, Lb'er still stays a need with Lee's history and Wilber's questionable value

That's the real question. I think $4-5MM AAV with a big chunk of it guaranteed is probably his neighborhood. He's 25, the right kind of player with his head on straight. He plays injured, and might be even better as an ILB in a 3-4 than he is here. One of his old coaches is now the DC in Indy.

He's going to get some play. We want to keep him, but I'm afraid he's going to get too rich for our blood and we're going to have to spend resources replacing a guy we drafted and developed who can actually play.

Well he's no Kuechly or Wagner but he can play some. That dang Lb'er coach who may be heading to Indy did a good job with him. Indy has a bunch of needs though, that great wall around Lucky has been a little porous so maybe they'll go big on Bell or Cooper ;)

He's going to get 6-8 million a year
He may, and I that case I let him walk
He’s a solid player who can play 3 spots and there is value in that but in real money 5 mil a year is where I’d be
Now you can build in fluff to make it look 6-7 mil a year but real money 5 seems right to me
