Let me start off by saying I'm on the Jim Harbaugh bandwagon. I've very impressed that he's turned Stanford into a legit program. He also, is a former NFL player and spent a small amount of time as a NFL QB coach. I think he's the next star coach in the NFL.

Back to my topic ...I just don't get it why people are so obsessed with Cowher.

What has he done? Won one Super Bowl and a bunch of division titles (8) in 15 seasons. It took him 14 years to win a Super Bowl.

Let's break it down:He wins the division title aproximately half of the time?
I'm pretty sure Wade has two division titles in Dallas in 4 years (3.5 technically). So Wade has about the same percentage (53% to 50%)
He won one Super Bowl in 14 years. No Cowboys coach except Landry has even coached this team that long. With our fan base, no coach would have that long. Expectations are too high. Wade went 13-3, 9-7, 11-5, 1-7 ... So two divison titles and three winning records in 3 and a 1/2 seasons and he sucks.

Cowher is 12-9 in the playoffs. Before the Steelers went 4-0 in the playoffs when the won the Super Bowl in his 14th season, he was 8-9 in the playoffs. Cowher has over a quarter of his wins against the Bengals and Browns (who for many years were some of the worst teams in football). Great coach, huh?

Basically, my point is that I'm curious as to what makes Cowher the favorite of so many people? I think and have always thought he's a highly overrated coach. I'm not defending Wade at all or saying Cowher completely sucks, but I don't think Cowher is anything special.

Good post. Most here would drool over having cowher here but at the same time wouldnt give him 4 years to win a superbowl much less 15.

I'm not impressed with Cowher either.

I think Harbaughwould be a good choice.

I like the Idea of Chucky ,myself . But I think you'll see Stoops with the inside track.

Which I'm not totally against.

Simple. He makes angry faces and spits when he talks and he "looks like" a coach. That's it in a nutshell. Take a look at most of the names being tossed about by fans and they have the same thing in common. Forget their records, do they look 'coachy'?

I personally do not think Cowher is the be all and end all to taking this team to the Super Bowl. I really think this roster has got to be retooled again from the beginning. There are far to many primadonnas rolling for free on this roster. There aren't many on this roster who play the game for the reasons they should be playing the game.

Far to many check gitters as far as Im concerned. This roster lacks the passion for the game and the competiveness that the Dallas fans will not do without.

A lot of these players need to check themselves and remember where the heck they play and wth they play for.

You are the flippin Dallas Cowboys for crying out loud.

Don't even put the star on if what you are bringing now satisifies you.

Im sick of these guys.

Yeah, why be impressed with someone who's won Superbowls and Conference Championships when you can have the guy who's greatest coaching accomplishment is having the 2nd best team in a weak Pac 10.

Ya because screaming and looking "coachy" wins super bowls.

Some of you are seriously delusional. If you have been there once, you know how to get there.

Period.

The 60's and 70's are over. 99% of NFL players play for money. Look at the end of all games. Everyone smiling, laughing. It's not the same as it was, and there is no loyalty to a franchise. Those days are long gone.

I think anything would be a pretty big upgrade for you guys; however, as a Commanders fan, I really don't want to see Jim Harbaugh go to the Cowboys. I think he's going to make a really good NFL coach, and I don't want to see him on the sidelines with Romo and those WRs playing against us.

Cowher isn't the reason they won the SB.....Dick Lebeau is. I'm not sold on Gruden either. My choice would be either Rob Ryan, Marvin Lewis if Cincy fires him, NYJ DC, or the Giants DC.

Cowher never really had a legitimate Franchise QB until they had Rapistberger.

He managed to take Neal O'Donnell to the Super Bowl and if not for his crappy QB might have had a chance at winning that game.

He managed to take Kordell Stewart to the AFCCG.

He even managed to win games with Tommy Maddox at QB.

Jim Harbaugh from what I've read and heard is the top candadate for the Michigan job, that's the job he's always wanted.

His defense did all that. Kinda like Brian Billick winning a Super Bowl in Baltimore with defense and no one wants Billick to coach this team.

Marvin Lewis a better option than Cowher?? Please explain

I'll quickly respond with a question:

What has Harbaugh done?

Cowher made it to the Super Bowl in Year 2. Conspicuously absent in your negative-sided argument. He took a team of journeymen and came close to beating Dallas' greatest dynasty. I can see why that wouldn't make a post trying to undermine him.

Let's break it down:He wins the division title aproximately half of the time?

He made it to two Super Bowls, winning one. He also built the team that did win it again, just like Jimmy Johnson did in Dallas.

149-90-1 career record, .623 winning percentage 3 losing seasons in 15 years as Steelers coach.

8 division titles in 15 years, ten trips to the playoffs.

At the conclusion of the 2005 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers had the best record of any team in the league in the time since Cowher was hired as coach. If that doesn't speak of his abilities, you're simply not looking.

Basically, my point is that I'm curious as to what makes Cowher the favorite of so many people? I think and have always thought he's a highly overrated coach. I'm not defending Wade at all or saying Cowher completely sucks, but I don't think Cowher is anything special.

And last but not least, check out the list of quality assistants that Cowher hired during his tenure in Pittsburgh:

Dom Capers (who just completely shut down our offense Sunday Night)
Chan Gailey (has a talentless Buffalo team at least playing hard which is more than we can say)
Jim Haslett (his defense beat us in Week 1)
Mike Mularkey
Ken Whisenhunt
Dick LeBeau ('nuff said)
Marvin Lewis

And that's to say nothing of the quality staff that Mike Tomlin continues to ride to success.

How anyone can tout Harbaugh who hasn't done anything while trying to undermine Cowher's credentials is beyond me...
