Given time, even late in his career, his arm could still pick a defense apart. He just didn't have left any of what little mobility he had to begin with, and his line wasn't built to give him time to just stand there in the pocket. One thing about Bledsoe that no one ever really gave him credit for was his absolute toughness. It was directly due to his lack of pocket mobility, too. He took a ton of hits and always shook it off and kept coming back.
I disagree with that. In his prime he was one of the better QBs in the league, but I don't think anyone considered him an elite QB. He was never terribly accurate and threw a lot of interceptions.
I remember his toughness quite well. In fact, I think his toughnes was his greatest asset; the fact he would stay in the pocket while the blitz was coming up the gut and still deliver the ball epitomized Bledsoe.
His first season with the Cowboys really gave us some hope, being the fact he was our first legitimate QB since the days of Aikman. His aforementioned strength and toughness ended up becoming a liability as he become slower in getting rid of the ball and succombing to the pressure of the blitz.
