What is it with training camp calf/injuries these past few days? It's seems like a lot of players this year are dealing with it. Donovan Wilson had it happen a few days ago, along with Joe Burrow and rookie Calijah Gauncey (rookie Bucs). There have been reports of others too with some other leg injuries (https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38081836/nfl-training-camp-injuries-updates-storylines-week). I'm curious why. Is it the training these players do in the offseason? Is it because they can't practice like they used to be able to?

Heat mixed with lack of proper hydration, and full, complete stretching. People are used to being able to do things a certain way and haven't realized there bodies are older, the heat is stronger, And they have to take everything serious. From proper stretching to proper hydration. They take for granted. It's only a few plays, or it's only for so long and assume it'll all be fine.

Poor hydration, poor stretching, and add in the fact that these guys have likely been doing more weight training in the offseason and probably slacked off on cardio which leads to the muscles not being used to that kind of strain.

It often follows a theme and I have no explanation for why. I work for the fire dept, and regularly experience the same thing. Some days everyone has a tummy ache and some days they are all having strokes. Its really odd, but no joke it happens a lot.

Fur sure, but, with the various offseason programs, I'd think they'd be in a better
position to avoid these injuries, but these seem to be happening. I don't know if this happened a lot to NFL players when 2 a day practices were a thing.

With the conditioning regimen being so limited these days, it's no wonder that the players are feeling the damaging effects of such lax policies. I think things will get better if the staff and players stay on top of their duties to get back into better shape. Hopefully, better practices might serve to facilitate progress in this team's conditioning. The trainers and players should be challenged to improve their conditioning regimen in the ongoing days ahead.

..Oxnard grass, its notorious for it. ;)..
So how does that explain the rest of the league? I mean it literally has guys mentioned from three different teams and there will be more and assorted injuries all around because it's called sports high level professional sports you're gonna have issues with nagging injuries as well as really bad ones and some of them for non contact.. There is no reasons it is just what it is it happens all around sports...
