What is my car Worth?

Sounds like it would be a good student car for about $1500.

I bought my first (technically my 2nd) car for $1250 and it was about 8 years old at the time.

Edmunds has a list of '96 Altima's and their price values. See how yours stacks up.

EDMUNDS

I had done some pricing research. That's how I came up with 2,300. Personally, I like Edmunds as a review source on models. I had never used them for pricing. I always use NADA because that's what most banks use, so it's rather accurate.

I'm going to hold tight at 1,999 for now and see what happens. What you said is true. The car is old, but it does run good and doesn't have any current problems. We shall see. I appreciate all the input. Thanks.

Good luck!

What do I know, but that sounds very reasonable to me, Ben. I'd just hold right there and I bet you can get your 2k for it.

I think that's what I'm going to do.

Why don't you just drive it into the ground? What's the point in selling it if you're only going to get $1600-1900 for it?

I would, but I already have one of those to drive into the ground. That, and someone just called me about it. They're still on the 2,300 number.... We shall see. I already have a daily driver. This one just sits there.

Makes sense. Good luck!

You should give it away to one of those groups that feed homeless people or something similar. You get a tax credit and help people at the same time.

You would get 2K for that by sundown up here in rust country.

When you split with the ex, why didn't you just let her have it. Tell her it was worth at least the $6k SHE put into it? She wouldn't have known and you could have maybe not had to give her something else.:D

...tell me about it. I actually threw it in there. We were going to try for some other things, but I ended up making out with some things I didn't think I was going to get, along with some money she didn't claim, etc.

Eh, it is what it is.

Ah, I thought the market was ok here. I still think it may be. I just realized the ad i put up over a week ago never posted on Craigslist. I just put it up and have one guy coming to look at it for 2,300. I'll give him 300 off and be done with it if I can.
