It's apparently clear in this era it's easier to win the games to get the money than build a team that can make money and win.

Make the most money and spend the least amount of money

Some would argue that you have to spend a lot of money to make a lot of money, such as get fancy stars and new stadiums :)

...would get you all the good things a franchise would consider a positive.

More fans, more revenue, more FAs willing to sign and ultimately a more stable franchise to make money over the long term.

The NFL is a annual trek to claim the SuperBowl nothing more and nothing less. Those franchises who don't work towards this end in a measured and continuous fashion are exposed.

IE. The Cardinals who at one time charged the players for their jocks. Looking at the profit/loss columns gets you no where. Looking at the value of players who are free agents and the value of contracts in proportion to performance will get you somewhere. But this activity is all predicated on value on the field and in the locker room not on a spread sheet.

You should know this is not true as the Dallas Cowboys have not won a playoff game in a long long long long time, yet they regularly make the most money.

In fact I would say all of the crazy additions to the cowboys(TO, Pacman, Tank, etc) are more a ploy to increase revenue than to win games. I would dare say revenue for the cowboys this year was probably more than our 13-3 year last year.
