What is the actual plan at LB?

Probably trading for Brooks
this. also they’ve made two picks. no matter what they were we’d have holes still, and would have the same question asked just of a different position. also downs can play as an almost defacto lb in certain sets. he contributes to so many of our issues it’s crazy.

barring a trade up though, i’m hoping they can land perkins jr

Would York be available in the 4th? He's a 5'10" guy but he is a legit Lber.

Let me preface this by saying that I LOVED DOWNS.

What I am trying to understand is. What in the actual you know what is the plan at LB?

Now not only will the green dot in this defense be a rookie, a 3rd to 7th rounder rookie is supposed to do that job?

Are they trading into the second for Rodriguez or Hill? Are they hoping that CJ Allens pro day makes him fall to the third? What is the plan? Because unless Downs can play MLB we are in trouble there.
What does Downs have to do with LB?

Who were we supposed to take at 11?

There are going to be a lot of disappointed people. We aren’t trading up high enough to get a 2nd round quality LBer prospect.

We aren’t trading Pickens for a pick to do that.

And we aren’t sending a mid round pick for Brooks.

It’s likely to be a mid round pick for a filler at ILB.

I think there will be a decent option for a trade up. There’s a few lbs to pick from still. They can package a couple 4ths with 92 and move up.

Honestly, if you can secure a J-Rod or Allen and lose net 2 picks, that's worth it to me.
Get the talent.

As a data point, SJ basically said he does not see that happening. I think they are looking for a veteran.

The plan is to take a high upside rookie or two and trade for a vet to bridge the gap. Unless by some miracle CJ or Rodriguez fell.

If they can get a day 1 starter at MLB, the defense will look completely different from last year. They’ll still lack a dominant edge player, and the pass rush will rely more on blitzing. But, they won’t have gaping holes in their run defense, and they’ll start pursuing and making open field tackles

Yeah it’s not their mo to trade into a round they don’t have a pick in.

I’d think they are looking at opportunities to get back into round 2 or will take a deeper look at the trade market.

Still opportunity out there but it would have been so nice if they could have addressed the issue a month ago in FA.
I'd like that

Couldn’t Downs be the green dot?
Realistically Allen, Rodriguez and Hill are probably out of range, but someone like Golday or Trotter (green dot candidate) could be in range in the 70s if the cowboys trade up with 92 and 112.
If they stand pat, Elarms-Orr could be had at 92

I’m sure he could be as a rookie why out the extra pressure on him? A vet LB would be the ideal situation.

Wagner is the perfect fit. Provides a cerebral playmaker at the second level to compliment Q Williams and Caleb Downs at the 1st and 3rd levels respectively. I'd like to see a move into the late 2nd if someone falls to fill the other ILB spot. This defense is really coming together, and I'm all for it.
...Wagner is on his last set of wheels, might fall of this year.

They will be running a 5-1-5 monster defense...
Wouldn't shock me if they ran some form of a 3-3-5 sometimes.....Guy that keeps falling into my lap on mock drafts this morning is Darrell Jackson Jr DT FSU
