What is the actual plan at LB?

He’s a solid player who developed from a late pick. He’s also in a contract year.so he should be motivated. He was good enough to start 17 games last year for 49ers. A LB in coverage is hard to judge by stats but he was targeted a lot and only gave up 6 yds per catch so they may have got the catch but he got to them. Some of a KN coverage is a back out of backfield and those are hard to break up but if you get the stop without a big gain it’s not too devastating. He’s likely a one year rental but solid pickup who also helps ST

I think they're playing the #'s. Last year I heard a stat that we played like 70% of the defensive snaps in nickel, and we repeatedly got gashed. Downs makes a difference in that light.

I really don't know much about him, but PFF has him rated as their second best LB in pass coverage, so he can't be that bad.

For a 5th def a good trade. Just hope we get Wagner too and another draft pick here. Louis or Lawson maybe. Although if McCoy is still there at #92 gotta snatch him up.

I expect them to extend him. He's a boilerplate average LB. Far better than what we had just by being league average.
He is a small-town Texas kid who stayed in state for college and gets to come back home.
He is not a guy you gotta pay a lot to and frankly we don't have a lot of LB to extend or even keep on the roster long-term.

I like Rodriguez as well, hell I liked a lot of players in the draft that went to other teams. I think the addition of Winters working alongside Overshown is not bad at all. I fully expect this defense to play much better than last season, I don't get upset over guys we did not get I look at the players we did get and thus far not disappointed even when it may not have been part of my mock draft. Parker is the man who has to coach these guys up and frankly I think Parker is going to do a much better job with this defense that we saw from Eberflus
