My Dad does that. In fact he still does. The only difference between you and him is he walks uphill both ways. :D

And your father has/had a job :D

In Germany...loved around the Ramstein Air Base area, worked every day in Heidelberg. Had to take high speed trains and change trains in Mannheim both ways. In Heidelberg, we had a "bahnhof car" - a beat up old clunker that was strictly used to drive to/from the work site for about 5 of us. Total one way commute was about 1.5 hrs. Did that for about two years.

Fell asleep one day on the train and missed the exchange in Mannheim on the way home...woke up and found myself way north of Frankfurt...it was a helluva trip back home...

My worst was when I lived in Irving and worked in Garland... traffic made it a good hour away via LBJ...

I live about 1 mile from my office here in Dripping Springs which is nothing, but I do travel to one of my clients quite frequently which is 90 miles away in Bandera... I also travel to Victoria a couple of times a month which is 140 miles each way, but I have my XM and it keeps me company...

The worst commute I know of... on a daily basis... was a friend I had that lived in Burleson, TX and commuted to Rockwall, TX EVERY day... (you DFW guys can appreciate that)...

That's SW of Ft. Worth to W of Dallas... that's a haul in the worst possible traffic...

The longest I would say was from South Ft Worth to Garland, but I was lucky enough that my hours were from 11am, to 9pm. I was missing the heavy traffic.

I worked off Midway once just north of 635 and commuted from South Ft Worth in the heavy traffic. That blew ***!

My current commute is about 1 1/2 hours each way. I catch a 6:30AM train, switch to the subway and then arrive at work at 8AM. What is good about this, is I get to snooze on the way to work and read on the way home. No traffic to deal with except packing into the subway cars.

I had to deal with an hour each way commute for about eight years in both Orlando and DC. It was pretty sucky and I don't miss it at all.

1,800 miles. I once hauled some freight from DFW to Boston.
