In the 1980s and early 90s, I used to record the NFL draft.

You have to remember that back then, that was thought of by a lot of people as pretty strange or "nerdy."

I would save the vhs tapes and occasionally watch them, especially in February and March the following year to get my draft juices going. I watched them so much that I had some of the dialogue memorized between a very young Mel Kiper, Dr. Z, Paul Maguire, Howard Balzer, etc.

I had several years of draft tapes at one time. Not sure what I have now.

In the early 1990s, I was watching the local news on one of the El Paso affiliates and during the so-called "witty banter" between the anchorwoman and the sports guy, the topic of the NFL draft came up (it was the lead story or something). The anchorwoman told the sports guy, "My husband actually tapes that event ... can you believe that?" and the whole news team had a good laugh.

I realized then that I had a kindred spirit out there somewhere. :laugh2:

I also used to be a total nerd/geek about the JFK assassination. That dates back to around 1980. I've read many books and articles and of course, made the pilgrimmage to Dealy Plaza. I don't have as much interest in that as I used too. The truth will never be known.

When I was in high school, I had straight "A"s except for one B+ I got in Debate my freshman year. I felt it was unfair given the work I did in the class, so for the next three years, I repeatedly made my case to the teacher (basically annoyed her to death) until she finally relented and changed my grade to an A.

In retrospect, I'd feel guilty about it, except for the fact that it was a debate class afterall. :p:

I read alot of movie news and follow movies through production. I get excited when their trailers come out. I HAVE to see movies on opening day.

I also am into computers and technology. I don't have a house full or anything, but do browse newegg weekly even though I'm not really needing anything :D

I used to play, on occasion in highschool, D&D, Magic the Gathering, online MUDS and collect comics. I've grown out of all these though. I guess I'm way less nerdy than I used to be but still a loser.

I play D&D and have had my own booth and show at the Texas Renaissance Festival displaying swords knives and fighting styles.

Beat that.

I'd say it is probably that I really like Shakespeare and other classic literature that everyone hates.

Nothing wrong with that. I was an English Lit major with a concentration on Classical literature.

In addition to having read everything Shakespeare ever wrote, I've also studied quite a bit of Chaucer, to the point where I can read and speak Middle English... which, in retrospect, is probably the nerdiest thing about me. :D

Ditto, though at one point we had about the same amount of posts.
He's on a mission to catch Hostile..

Other than being a perpetual student (Trying to finish my 3rd and final degree), I'd agree with Yeager and say being a mod on this site. Only a few people know I'm a moderator.

I've been to eight Star Trek conventions in my life.

Ok...I like star trek but...ummm no I could not see myself going to one of those.

I would probably get bumrushed by a bunch of nerds for laughing at how serious they take things.
