What is Wade thinking?

You're Wade Phillips and you have a pretty respectable record as HC and are/were well known for your defensive prowess. Do you sit there and watch a team that has already written it in tack on a bunch of losses to your record and worse, watch your once lauded defense get chewed up and spit out every week?

Or, do you walk into Jerry's office and politely ask for a deal that makes everyone look as good as possible where you can resign, keep some contract cash and let Jerry do what he wants while you look for a DC position next year? If you're Wade, do you make that happen now rather than waiting for the media to bash you for the rest of the season. Do you fire up a life raft rather than going down completely with the ship?

I see no benefit to Wade for staying for the rest of the season and think it does him more harm than good. Wouldn't he want out of this catastrophe?

I don't think Wade is a quitter. Despite contrary opinions I think the man has a lot of pride. And I don't think Jerry wants him to quit now. The time for change will be the offseason.

He doesn't have to quit. He can come down with one of those "family needs me right now" excuses. I, for one promise to never, ever, refer to him as a quitter if he does. I'd rather he be a quitter than a no-confidence coach wasting his time with our team. We could be making progress, but Wade has lost the players or they've given up and you can't lead or change without having the respect of your team.

I am starting to see a little Wade sympathy in the national media, if you can believe that.

It's gone so strong against him in recent weeks, that the pengelum is swinging back the other way.

Those with this "it's not all Wade's fault view" , are pointing the finger at the players and Jerry.

Wade can't quite. There's a stigma with that, that never leaves you.

Not that he'll sniff another HC gig. But I also don't think quitting would limit his DC prospects.

So it's not as if quitting would have much if any impact on his future prospects of NFL employment.

It's just not something he'd want as part of his legacy. Better to go down with the ship as any good captain would.

If I was Wade and got his paycheck I would coach to the best of my abilities until the door was shut on me.

He's a professional so he should act like one.

Professionals don't quit. Thats what amateurs do.

I bet Wade's thinking, "Dang, i really wish i was the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys because i know how to turn this around if i could only have control of this team and run things the way i want.."

Come on. You know that won't work.

I'm certainly past the point of Wade must go now. You just can't expect him to pull his own trigger. Jerry needs to euthanize him.

You're right. I don't think that will work, but maybe he could go on a hunting trip with Dick Cheney or something like that.

I am frustrated that with 2+ months left, we are forced to watch this team underperform and disintegrate from within. That coupled with the fact that Jerry hasn't hit on a head coach in 14+ years, doesn't make me too happy.

I'm with you. Maybe he can just grab his chest and collapse on the sidelines Sunday Night.:lmao2:

If I'm Wade I'm thinking I have 9 games remaining and I better win them all.

Tony - when jobberone said he didn't think Wade was a quitter, I think he meant that literally, and not that Wade actually is a quitter but just doesn't want to be perceived as one.

If he get's them to win the next 9 straight, I'll be laughing all the way.

I would be stunned beyond believe. I do not see that happening but if I'm in his shoes that is all I have left

The word on the street is Phillips attorneys are meeting with Jerry soon.
The only stumbling block seems to be getting Jerry to assume monetary responsibility for Phillips life time membership to Dunkin Doughnuts.

Yeah, well, there are several holes in that story.

It is simple.

Wade wont quit.

The team is gone. All thats left is ensuring he gets all the money from his contract. If he quits that wont happen, correct?
