What is wrong with Dak in 2017?

I wrote this in another post but I think it is worth posting here.

"Dak has a lot of problems that showed up this year without a great OL to protect him.
1. His foot work in throwing is very bad. It effects his accuracy and deep throws.
2. He only sees a small portion of the field and still misses open receivers.
3. His ability to throw into tight windows is no better than 50-50. This may be due to his inaccuracy problem and therefore his foot work.
4. He is no Romo in dissecting defenses in reading them before a play. This maybe due to coaching or lack of NFL experience. Either way this is the most troubling issue that Dak has."

If I am the coaching staff, there are three issues I would work on with Dak:
1. I would have Dak watch the Utube of Bill Walsh illustrating foot work with Joe Montana in a three step, 5 step, and 7 step drops. Then make him practice these for 8 hours a day.
2. Teach Dak to read defenses by using "keys" to anticipate what the defense will do and the correct call for the play. Romo was a master of this.
3. This one may be old fashion but it work very well with the best throwers in league history. The coaches would have the QB throw passes at a swinging tire to make the window type throws. this would make Dak set his feet better and the time/distance calculation in his head for those accurate window throws.

I think in 2016 teams we’re consistently fooled by Daks ball handling but in 2017 teams remained more disaplibed to assignments and choked the short/medium part of the field. I still think we’ve got a good QB but footwork an accuracy does need to improve.

1. Dak did not come into the league as a finished product.
2. The staff didn't coach him up or put him in position to win.
3. His receivers ran poor routes and dropped passes.
4. Dak is the scapegoat for the offensive woes.
5. Jerry drinks too much.
6. Witten is too slow.
The six reasons you can't blame Dak for any of this.;)

I think personally our staff is lazy. They saw how successful he was in 2016 and probably thought they could leave him with little coaching and focus on other areas. I wouldn’t be surprised done bi

Can they suddenly stop the tire when he is anticipating it to be swinging? Can they yank the tire up or drop it when he is anticipating it to be swinging normally? Can they occasionally replace the tire with a brick wall and have the DBs practice getting the ball when it bounces off the wall?

Romo was still on the bench in year two and not because they had someone really good in front of him.

Dak has got some things to work on but the offense put up points until Zeke went out. Dallas couldn't break double digit points for a three-week stretch. They finally hit the scoreboard against Washington but Dak only had about 100 yards passing, I think. What's wrong with Dak is that he can't carry a team by himself in his second year.

Dak needs to rifle his throwing hand. His throws are wobbly. Basic physics of projectile motion since the Civil War..

While your point has some validity, Kurt Warner used to throw some wobbly, yet accurate "ducks".

Yea the fifty dollar bill pinned to the board . We need Mike Martz. But some dam good deep completions that needed both the receiver and QB to tango. Ours seem to be out of sync.

In 2016, Dak was a mystery to defenses in this league.
In 2017, the league had a year’s worth of tape on his strengths and his weaknesses and made adjustments on how to stop him.

I don’t think Dak was coached very well last year because it seemed that Garrett and Linehan just tried everything they used in 2016 that worked without much adjustment. The league adjusted. The Cowboys didn’t.

Yea I think our coaching is soft and bad plays are rewarded and players too cuddled.

~Clap to the music ~ That wasn't music, that was a bad play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I'm fk'n up on the field and my coach or trainer is clapping, I'm going to have no fear in needing to improve.

Romo was on the bench in yr two because coaches are always leerly of playing young qb's, especially undrafted ones. Dak also would have been on the bench in yr two if Romo did not get injured and if Romo's backup also was not injured. Gauranteed a 1st or 2nd year Romo would have been able to make all the throws down the field with regularity, yes plenty of piks too but no doubts regarding if he could make all the throws that a QB is expected to make.

Love these threads. They're so useful with helping to evaluate the teams season in 2017 and what needs to be done in 2018 to improve. Insert sarcasm here

We saw what Romo did when he came back against Philly. I was more concerned for him being reinjured than his quality at that time. If Romo wanted to still play, they should have kept him in. Plus that none essential loss to Philly played a big role in demoralizing the team at a time we could have made the SB.

Bingo. This coaching staff has no creativity. Our offensive play calling is woefully bland compared to other high powered offenses.

We have a great line, stud RB, a very serviceable WR core (if used properly),and a QB that can use his legs along with being smart about protecting the football.

Someone like BB and other great coaches would find a way to take this team deep into the post season.

Dak needs a quicker release and learn how to throw his receivers open...Better anticipation and field vision.

JG's offensive scheme sucks and Dak still played mediocre last year, so he could play even better if the scheme ever improves and we we're more creative.
