What is your Resign priority this offseason?

Almost 100% sure Kitna restructured his contract when we traded for him and added a year, so he might not be an UFA.

Maybe Adam or someone else has all the details.

Why the Sensabaugh hate?

I think we need a starting safety who is better in coverage of the top flight receivers the game is turning out at TE.

Miles Austin
Marcus Spears
Gerald Sensabaugh
Stephen Bowen
Alan Ball
Jason Hatcher
Jon Kitna
Pat Watkins
Junior Siavii
Sam Hurd
Pat McQuistan
Cory Procter
Montrae Holland

Thats my list order

I like Spears, solid player and especially love his locker room presence, but I'd rather upgrade.

Either pay for the sure thing (Richard Seymour) or roll the dice in the draft. There will be some good DTs coming out.

I thought sensabaugh was pretty good in coverage.

Did a little research and the following are the players in their contract year:

Jon Kitna- yes...b/c he knows the offense
Miles Austin- hell yes! for obvious reasons...
Sam Hurd- yes. good on s/t; solid b/u WR
Pat McQuistan
Cory Procter
Montrae Holland
Marcus Spears- yes...but only if he's not chasing big $$$
Jason Hatcher- yes. solid rotation player
Stephen Bowen- yes. he's a playmaker
Junior Siavii- yes. solid depth
Alan Ball- yes. b/c of his versatility
Pat Watkins- yes. good special teamer
Gerald Sensabaugh- yes. maybe our best safety since #28 donned the Star.
My opinions are in bold. As long as none of them (other than Miles & to a lesser extent Sensy) is looking for major dough I'd like to see our "continuity" theme extended. McQ & Holland may be serviceable, but I haven't seen enough of them to want to keep them around. Proctor, OTOH, can beat his feet outta Valley Ranch ASAP!!

At this point in their careers, Spears is the more sure thing. He's been here, they've seen him for 3yrs in Wade's scheme. Seymour is older and after a fairly quick start for the Raiders, is clearly showing why the Pats got rid of him. There's no way I'd put a decent contract in front of Seymour now. I'd rather keep our guy.

Barbie
The venerable Roy " I know I can do better" Williams

Gotta have both of those back.

CHAMPIONSHIP!

Jon Kitna
Miles Austin
Sam Hurd
Pat McQuistan
Cory Procter
Montrae Holland
Marcus Spears
Jason Hatcher
Stephen Bowen
Junior Siavii
Alan Ball
Pat Watkins
Gerald Sensabaugh

Would like to see all back in camp. Except McQuistan & Proctor. If Holland or Saivii are not there, that's ok too.

To make the team unless someone better emerges, all the others.

I don't know who to keep, but I know that I don't want to field a defense that includes Marcus Spears and Gerald Sensabaugh or Ken Hamlin next year. One of Hamlin/Sensabaugh can stay-- but they're too similar to each other to keep them both.

Marcus Spears has been quietly terrible this year, but no one's said anything.

Marcus Spears has actually been really solid this year. Not sure where that "terrible" business is coming from.

He is a good tackler for sure but he has been lacking against the better TEs. The game has evolved to the point that you want an excellent open field tackler and a guy who can go man against decent WRs,, good TEs and good WRs. You don't want to give teams easy matchups to exploit because you are only as good as your weakest link.

I agree. Spears > Seymour at this point in time. I think the fans here underestimate this guy. He is good and can play NT in a pinch. He never complains and always does his job. He gets a little bit of push in the pass rush but that isn't really his game. He is a load at the point of attack and is a solid player with excellent character. My only concern with Spears is his chronic knee issues. I wouldn't dump a ton of guaranteed money on him because of this.
