What is your theory why this team has looked soft, frail, fatigued the last month?

I thought the depth they were bragging about at the beginning of the season would have kept this team fresher down the stretch. But this team has looked run down and very weak at the point of attack the last month. We've lost the trenches several times over the last few weeks, and our DBs/LBs look slowfooted and are not tackling with the same authority. I know injuries are part of it, but every team in the league has injuries. And that doesn’t explain us getting beat up in the trenches by a far inferior Texans team. What is your theory? S&C? A team bored w/ the regular season?

They look entitled and not hungry.
We need a hard nosed coach that will demand accountability.
Attention to detail would be nice too.

Injuries, poor leadership and coaching
Several weeks ago, I noticed a few players started openly talking about the playoffs. I found it a little weird. It seems the locker room has been in a “let’s just get to the playoff” mode for awhile instead of just being where their feet were. One day at a time, Garrett style.

I’ve lost some faith in McCarthy. I think he’s provided poor leadership to the team down the stretch of the season. That matters because he was brought on specifically to improve this franchise’s performance this time of the year.

Two things.

1. Lacking talent at key positions. If you lose the battle at the LOS, it is extremely hard to win the game.
2. Apparently it's simply mental weakness. We are not strong mentally on O, and we don't control the middle of the line on D.

Man, don't you guys watch other games? JAX won purely because of their DLine. That is what we need, not more WR's and CB's. Thinking we need to draft more skill players in the first two rounds is a very casual fan thought.

We're just not physical at the physical positions.

This team very much feels like the team that we had between 2011-2013... we've just managed a better record somehow.

Until things change at the top, the franchise has hit it's ceiling.
You can only have so much success with the culture that's being perpetuated.

Also losing Steele was devastating.

Once that happened I lost hope for a deep playoff run.

The Cowboys are 12-5, and still had a path to the 1 seed in the NFC playoffs going into week 18. Fire McCarthy! (sarcasm)

You, complainers of McCarthy, sound ridiculous.

Yep. Or even 2014-1016. Garrett's off year was the middle one when Romo was hurt 2015. Otherwise it's a 12 win 2014 and a 13 win 2016.
As compared to McCarthy's 2020-2022. McCarthy's first year was his off year of Dak out and all other injuries. To be followed by 12 wins last year and this year.
So far the playoff record is the same and we'll see if it exactly matches after the next one.
