What kind of hope is there when Jones owns this team?

Unbelievable. Just when I thought Jerry Jones couldn't get any worse as an owner, he puts a gag order on all of his employees. No, not just the office help or the trainers or the players, the entire team. His sons, his dog, even his own head coach. Yeah, you heard right, Wade Phillips isn't allowed to speak to the media. How ridiculous.

The only thing I can think of is that Jones has slowly begun to realize that he just spent over 1 Billion dollars on a new stadium, and he has a team that can't win past November. He also has what he has portended to crave since his birth--lots of attention on his Dallas Cowboys. I guess "they" are right Jerry-be careful what you wish for. All you do all year long is think of ways to have your team in the limelight. Now, when that mindset has caused major brain disfunction on so many decisions lately, and has the media wondering if almost every person on your immediate staff, including son Stephen, can talk you into getting rid of a certain cancer on your team, you put a sock in everyone's mouth.

Just a word to the not-so-wise, Jerry. It doesn't just work one way. Just because you want the Cowboys in the news, all the time, doesn't mean that all of it is going to be positive. In fact, the way you run your organization, you asked for it. You hire coaches & staff, then stick your nose in everything they do. Man, did you once read a "how NOT to run an organization" book, and take it to heart?

All you have to do is look at every great leader who ever lived to know their secret: They find people smarter than they are in vital areas of the organization, then let them do their job. It's quite simple, actually. Why not just sit back for a few days and watch Bob Craft or the Rooney family? They have almost mirror images of each other. They bring in the best people at as many positions as possible, communicate with them often, and delegate authority & responsibility. Between them, the Patriots and Steelers have won 5 Super Bowls in this decade. How many playoff games has your team won in that same time frame?

You got lucky in the 90s by fleecing the Vikes out of a boatload of picks & was lucky enough to know Jimmy Johnson. What have you done since you spent your currency on both? Nothing. That will continue to be the case until you retire or die, because you're surely not going to change. After all, why, when it has served you so well the past 13 years?

You're right. There truly is no hope as long as Jones owns this team. And don't listen to any of those rose-colored glasses fans who will tell you otherwise. Some people just choose to stick their head in the sand and ignore the obvious. :banghead:

Don't listen to them. Stand firm in your unbelief. Spread your gospel far and wide. When you find hope amongst others I simply ask that rather than shake your head and walk away, that you stand, do battle and extinguish their belief.

Seriously, what kind of world would this be if people walked around being hopeful?

Problem is moronic OP's like this one inspire them. Did you read it. Horrible!

The guy has some valid points in his rant. Jerry pisses me off sometimes and other times i love the guy. Hell i don't want T.O. on the team but does that mean i am going to go be a fan of another team? Hell no. I will be on here posting in the gameday thread with all of you. Its just moronic to tell someone to go "watch another team" if they aren't happy with what we see. That is the pleasure of being a fan. Through the good times and bad times.

Jerry Jones always evokes mixed feelings for me, but the gag order is actually something I support. I agree that he's mostly going about it the wrong way, but the Cowboys need shut up as a franchise. The players should go play, the coaches/training staff should get the players prepared to play and the FO needs to be working to figure out how they continue to acquire quality players. He's at least right in spirit this time.

Not only is it not ridiculous, it's long overdue...

The Boys need to keep their cards close to their vests... talking in public just gives their competitors a good idea as to what their plans are re: free agency and the draft...

A good poker face will get you a long way in the world...

I agree, Cowboys coaches and upper levels have always talked too much, time to shut up, besides believe it or not this is what alot of teams have done in the past and are now doing. This is not new, just new for the Cowboys hence the reason for it being written about as some huge thing.

Its about time....

Put a clamp on the pie hole and go buy yourself a Steelers jersey. Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys are doing just fine.

If you don't like it, go stick your face in the litter box and pick among your other 31 choices.

These anti Jones threads are just old old old.

Leave before you spread your infection.

Gag orders are fine, but you can't gag the Head Coach. You just can't do that.

To my knowledge no one's ever done that.

As soft and spineless as he is, Wade Phillips knows tons more about football than our fantasy football GM, Jones. Making it ridiculous that Jones is the lone voice of the Cowboys regarding football matters.

The head coach should be the voice of the franchise, not the GM/Owner. You don't see anything like this anywhere in American sports. At least not from a successful franchise.

Wrong.

Other Head Coaches put gag orders on their staff, but I don't think anyone can name a GM/Owner of a functional franchise that's placed a gag order on their Head Coach.

I'm sure that Wade is allowed to talk to the players. Who cares who talks to the media, if anyone?

Thing is, this undermines his authority even more with the players.

This just reinforces to them that Jones is really calling the shots and that ultimately they really only have to answer to him.

Pretty sure the players are aware of why the order was enacted and by the way- they already knew Wade worked for Jerry.

You're over-reacting.

As I said earlier, I'm fine with the gag order on everyone else, just not for the Head Coach.

That's a little extreme, IMO.

But Jerry's doing great doing things his way. No worries.

In Jerry I trust.

I've been sick of Jerry for several years.

I'll be doing a happy dance when Stephen takes over.

It gets me mad when Cowboy distractors reduce the 90's success to the luck of the Walker trade but when a fan does it, well you are or were just not paying attention.

It's stupid. he's just reinforcing to the players that he's still in charge and Wade is just a loser puppet.
