No, not just the office help or the trainers or the players, the entire team. His sons, his dog, even his own head coach. Yeah, you heard right, Wade Phillips isn't allowed to speak to the media. How ridiculous.
The only thing I can think of is that Jones has slowly begun to realize that he just spent over 1 Billion dollars on a new stadium, and he has a team that can't win past November. He also has what he has portended to crave since his birth--lots of attention on his Dallas Cowboys. I guess "they" are right Jerry-be careful what you wish for. All you do all year long is think of ways to have your team in the limelight. Now, when that mindset has caused major brain disfunction on so many decisions lately, and has the media wondering if almost every person on your immediate staff, including son Stephen, can talk you into getting rid of a certain cancer on your team, you put a sock in everyone's mouth.
Just a word to the not-so-wise, Jerry. It doesn't just work one way. Just because you want the Cowboys in the news, all the time, doesn't mean that all of it is going to be positive. In fact, the way you run your organization, you asked for it. You hire coaches & staff, then stick your nose in everything they do. Man, did you once read a "how NOT to run an organization" book, and take it to heart?
All you have to do is look at every great leader who ever lived to know their secret: They find people smarter than they are in vital areas of the organization, then let them do their job. It's quite simple, actually. Why not just sit back for a few days and watch Bob Craft or the Rooney family? They have almost mirror images of each other. They bring in the best people at as many positions as possible, communicate with them often, and delegate authority & responsibility. Between them, the Patriots and Steelers have won 5 Super Bowls in this decade. How many playoff games has your team won in that same time frame?
You got lucky in the 90s by fleecing the Vikes out of a boatload of picks & was lucky enough to know Jimmy Johnson. What have you done since you spent your currency on both? Nothing. That will continue to be the case until you retire or die, because you're surely not going to change. After all, why, when it has served you so well the past 13 years?
You're right. There truly is no hope as long as Jones owns this team. And don't listen to any of those rose-colored glasses fans who will tell you otherwise. Some people just choose to stick their head in the sand and ignore the obvious.
Don't listen to them. Stand firm in your unbelief. Spread your gospel far and wide. When you find hope amongst others I simply ask that rather than shake your head and walk away, that you stand, do battle and extinguish their belief.
Seriously, what kind of world would this be if people walked around being hopeful?
