What kind of owner will Stephen Jones be?

When Jerry passes on it's no sure thing that his son would get the team. The managers of Jack Kent Cooke's estate made it their mission to get the best price for Washington's team, despite Cooke's clear intention that his son should inherit it. Little Cooke ended up a couple hundred million short and Napoleon took over.

I'm no tax lawyer, but tax laws in this country make it very difficult to inherit valuable assets easily. Hopefully for the Jones' sakes Jerry learned from Cooke's mistakes and has things set up so his sons can assume ownership.

I've read before that Stephen Jones will assume control of the franchise whenever Jerry steps down and I can't see the family losing the team after having watched what happened to the Cookes.

Jerry should already have a plan in place to avoid that.

And Stephen has been groomed to one day take over for his dad, a much easier transition than Jerry waking up one morning and realizing he no longer had Jimmy's eyes to scout talent.

It's been written Stephen will have less of an ego when on top and he will be more of a mediator who collects information from all sides and decides what's best for the team.

He should do well, IMO.

He will be hands-on.......I have spoken to Stephen several times and he is always on top of everything going on within the organization. As a matter of fact he is the one who schedules alot of the management meetings......he is on top of everything and a great guy.

He is the master mind of all financial decisions involving the salary cap issues......Mr. Jones has already turned that over to Stephen and it is one of the most if not the most important part of the team.....managing the cap for present and future considerations.
