What makes the divisional playoffs such a tough nut to crack?

Not having a good enough team to beat your opponent.

We can make excuses all day, and some fans will, but you either win or lose. The Cowboys have not been good enough to win. That's why they lose.

I agree with this....and I'm also willing to add that I bet you some of the worst Coaching/GM's int he league have failed to make it in that same span.

They already don't have the talent and also have the worst coaching and below average front offices in that span will do it.

I mean this with all due respect to Dave Campo.....but no team is serious about winning with him as head coach and you probably could say the sam thing about Wade and Jason Garrett......and Switzer......and Gailey.

How true it is. even with the savior at QB, they have been woeful against above .500 teams. Just not good enough. The weak defense is at fault too since they get shredded by good teams.

Not having a decent Defense to stop opponents when it matters,

of course there were some misfortunes - like the slippery K ball to Romo , ( even that would have been overcome if we had a D to stop the 1st down ) , then the NYG 3rd time - Crayton stupidity , D giving a 30 sec Td before half , then the Murray Fumble & Dez catch , Finally the Aaron Rodgers miraculous throw to TE to kick FG ( Again weak D)

In most cases, you're playing an equally or more talented team. You basically have to play your best game of the year. So you cant find yourself down almost 20 points to Aaron Rodgers in 2016. Or allow Rodgers in 2014 to limp around on one leg in ice cold weather and slice you up. Or in 2009, choose not to block Minnesota's DE all game.

...coaching man, coaching. I can think twice where we had opportunities to win and advance. Defense every time was Achilles heel.

yes they do hire the coaches, and they do meddle in other areas, so it all comes back to them.
My point is no matter if they do assemble a talented team, without talented coaches, it wont help them get to a SB.

The divisional round has been a tough nut to crack because our defense keeps playing like crap. If our lack of a pass rush doesn’t get us beat it’s our inability to stop the run. The last time we reached the divisional round we saw an average back and a washed up back put up over 100 yards each. It’s like our defense looks for different ways to get us beat. It’s been a pathetic unit for the past two decades.

Jerry spends all his time trying to recreate the triplets instead of building the defense. You need a Defense that can make stops and create turnovers. Dallas has struggled with this for over a decade! Good work Jerry!

The same 2 guys presiding over that failure are still calling the shots for the Cowboys, so it's (obviously) a hard nut to crack (for the Dallas Cowboys).
