What makes this win so different?

There was a lot of things going in that game that I expected to see alot of posts ripping the team apart.

It's interesting, because when they thorougly beat up on the other teams, there were always a bunch of threads pointing out the negatives of what certain players did wrong.

The Bills game was the closest and most flawed game they've played all year. Certainly enough for people to chew on, but I find nothing but a bunch of happy posts.

So what makes this win different from the others where there seems to be nothing, but happy vibes?

No doubt a lot of mistakes but because Dallas overcame the odds and pulled off pretty much a miracle many are just happy that we are sitting at 5-0 and a 1.5 games over the Commanders right now instead of 4-1 and a half game up. This team still has a lot of work to do but sitting 5-0 feels damn good.

Our team faced self-inflicted adversity, yet still hung on (with help from some poor playcalling by Bills coaches). We came from behind on Monday Night Football and ended up winning with good defensive play, ST performance late in game, and an offense that got its act together to drive down the field.

There was a lot not to like in that game but overcoming adversity makes us a tougher team the next time (and there will be other times for any variety of reasons) we face that problem.

I saw the Cowboys get beat in two aspects of the game. Tony Romo and the offensive line's ability to run block. Romo had way to much cough medicine or something, and the line's run blocking was horrible. Beyond that two things (well and the one breakdown on the kick return) the Cowboys dominated the Bills. If they hadn't, the Bills would have blown out the Cowboys with all the mistakes Romo had made.

I've said this a few times, their run blocking is complete garbage until the defensive front seven has completely run out of gas. After that a college team could run on them. This is the primary reason the Cowboys can't score in the first quarter. Their run blocking is piss poor.

I think despite the lack of a running game early which is concerning me, the team came together Monday night. The defense won the game for Dallas, despite the offense which is different for this team. I think that is keeping everyone away from the ledge. That and the way we won the game!

Romo played terrible and it is hard to critizise him too much for one bad game although his play has made me a bit nervous going forward. I just think he lost a bit of confidence in that game which I had never seen from him before.

Well first off. It wasn't all bad. Our defense played near great. We would have had no chance without them playing the way they did. Three major problems in this game I see.

1. Turnovers by QB: Romo for the most part coming into this game has not had a problem with this, so hopefully this should be correctable.

2. Lack of running game, particularly early on. This one concerns me a little more. I don't know what the answer is. I'm not sure if Barber would be better early in the game. One possibility is running more outside, testing the edges early on, rather than pounding the middle. I also think we need to come out throwing on first down, because teams are ganging up against the run.

3. Special teams returns. This concerns me the most. We need to get this figured out. I'm not sure it is as simple as just plugging Keith Davis back in. The kickoff return by Buffalo was way too easy.

I also think it's not uncommon to have games like this, particularly going into a hostile environment in a night game. The only reason I didn't think it would be a big issue going in is because Buffalo's defensive statistics going in were so terrible. They played better than their statistics.

People are noticing that the team Never Quit!!! As bad as Romo played, he was key to getting those final points at the end of the game after a bad secon half, and all this on top of Romo being key in getting Dallas three points just before halftime despite a bad first half, to get them within 7 points.

The bottom line is that under Parcells this same game would have been a nasty blowout against the Cowboy' favor. Players would have quit on the coach, the gameplan, and each other by halftime. But unlike last year's team, this team believes in one-another, the coaches and the aggressive system. And because of this, they have a knockout-punch mentality and showed it against Buffalo.

I think it was because they went an appeared to be overlooking the bills.

What it did was get them back to a focused status and it also showed a never say die or never quit attitude.

As you said they were terrible on offense for most of the night. Really with the amount of turnovers they had no business winning the game.

However they never quit and kept going and pulled out a win.

I think it showed they are a family now. A team that was eating the cheese but got smacked in the mouth and still managed to pull out a win.

Most QB's and teams, as numerous threads have pointed out, do not have that many turnovers and still manage to pull out a win. Yet we did.

In some ways it almost seems like a team of destiny vibe going on because of it.

You get a game full of murphy's law thrown at you but you still manage to pull a gut check and get a win.

That is more impressive than the negatives of the game IMO.

Its the great teams that win the game.

One thing I did see though is that we are not on the level of the patriots yet, because the patriots come out to play every single game. We knew we were much better than the bills, and so we kind of slacked off. Thats how terrible teams like the browns and the bills win; they get pumped while the opponent takes it easy.

The defence held them to 3 points, so it wasn't the whole team that didn't show up to play. They didn't "slack off." When we needed the defence to step it up the most after the Romo fumble, they did. When Romo threw another interception after Newman's pick, what did the defence do? Made them punt. Bradie James, Ware, Newman and others were playing lights out. Newman looked like Young Roy Williams hitting people.

It wasn't one of those games where the whole team looked flat, it was a game where one person looked terrible.... I love Romo but he did everything in his power to lose the game for us but the rest of the team wouldn't let him. The defence and rest of the team gave up 10 points... Romo single handly gave them 14.

Because the win was like the prodigal son. During the game it was lost but then found. Time to kill the fatted calf.
