What Makes This Year Different Than The Past 16?

The past 2 days have been exciting for sure. All the moves really look like they will make this a better team.

This team almost always has high expectations and at least we have that as Cowboys fans. Even if the expectations are TOO optimistic they are there.

In the past 5 years we have had some very good seasons and some very disappointing seasons. Most think this team has a lot of talent.

Every season it seems like, "if we can just do this or do that we will get over the hump."

I know that once the season starts I will be in "We Can Win It All" mode - at least if we play like we should be capable of and some things go our way.

Will this be a great year for the Cowboys?

Or, will it be just one more disappointment?

not much same crap...Just like the NFL today any idiotic team can win see 2011-12 Gints... who knows I don't expect much.

Past seasons aren't indicative of what will happen in this upcoming season. I think of it like a test score, everyone starts off with a 100 and things develop depending on the mistakes you make. No mistakes have been made yet we're just as capable of being successful as anyone else in the league.

Well this year is 2012, whereas the previous 16 were 2011, 2010, 2009...

Numerous things.

And if you can't see them, well, I don't know what to tell you.

New season brings new hope. I think people are excited about the prospects we are bringing in. Hell a few days ago people are talking about how they bet Dallas does not do anything in FA and how we would put the same old team out there.

If it doesn't show up on Sundays, especially late in the season, than nothing has changed.

Garrett was supposed to do all this dramatic changing and all he was this season was par for the course.

I can see them and Im as happy as anyone is about them.

And like Doomsday says - new season, new hope.

I've been excited every year when the season begins - some with higher expectations than others.

Just a question to consider in the OP . . . . . .

Really?

I'm very happy with the FA moves. The fact that Jerry has already made alot of moves with coaching hires and FA player acquisitions, has made me happily optimistic for the upcoming season.

Well, for starters, they have done more the 1st two days of FA this year than in the 4 previous years combined.

It doesn't matter, the world is ending on 12/12/12.

This is Reds 1st true Free Agency class. If The Garrett's are known for anything it's their ability to scout talent.

If you are asking what's different; it's having a true talent guy overseeing everything. The things Jason does well (IMO); lead, coach them up and evaluate talent. I believe this axiom in live; smart motivated people eventually get it right. Jason may be the best talent evaluating coach since Jimmy was here. When a guy reaches out to Jimmy, Coach K and Saban, it tells me he has a desire to be the best. That's internal motivation. Either you have it or you don't.

Now, I would like to see Jason handle game management better, and I think he will. I think Callahan was bought in to sure up that weakness.

Didn't the Mayans omit leap years from their calendar?

To slightly rephrase Laura San Giacomo's quote from Stephen King's The Stand, "We are (already) dead and... this... is... hell..."
