What needs to happen to clinch a playoff spot?

A Vikings loss/tie

A Carolina loss/tie or a New orleans win

Which, looking at the scores, is well on the way to happening. Looks like we'll be in before 3 PM rolls around.

I thought the Aints had to win today for us to be in.

I know that either Carolina or Minnesota has to lose.

ok, someone explain to me how with just a vikings loss, we aren't in? We hold tiebreaker on remaining teams looking in (with realistic shot)

NFC East
NFL Dallas can clinch a playoff berth with:

* A Minnesota loss or tie and New Orleans win or tie OR
* A Minnesota loss or tie and Carolina loss or tie

Philly wins today, we beat Philly, we win the Division.

If Philly loses and the Giants lose to NOLA next week we win the division unless we lose our last 2 games. We ain't losing to Detroit no matter what. So actually it would be better for the Giants to win this week and lose next week.

Why does NO need to win? I knew that was the case, but I don't understand.

That is because he is a moron
Yeah, but I said it elsewhere -- that was as much the game crew's fault as his. He needed to be told at some point by someone "in the truck" that it wasn't the case. "We've just been told by the crew that..." would have worked wonders for his, and the fledgling show's, reputations.

Looking pretty good that the Jets will take out the Vikes. So we will be in no matter what. BUT I want a DIVISION TITLE!!!

I don't understand why we need anything other than a Minnesota loss

Because if Carolina wins its remaining games and NO loses it remaining games then they have the same reccord at 9-7 and Carolina owns the tiebreaker and wins the division and we dont win the tiebreaker with the Saints because we lost the head to head matchup. So we need Carolina to lose so the best they can have is a 8-8 record and the Saints to win to guarantee the division.

Got it!

As of this post, Carolina is losing 27-3 and Minn is losing 26-7 both in the 4th quarter. Also the saints are losing to the Commanders 13-10 in the 4th.

Ideally it would be great if all three teams lose because the saints will still win the division with a loss if carolina loses and the cowboys will be in the playoff if Minn loses. The best case is the saints losing today and losing one of their last two games so Dallas can have the second seed with a first round bye.

I don't mind the Saints losing to the Skins. The Skins are out, so why not let them fall down the draft order a bit?
But, looks like we are locked in... Minny is down by 19 in the 4th, and Carolina is getting pureed by Pitt.

this is so much better than last year when we were having to look at 5 different games and scenarios just to get in..

I remember the bitter dissapointment when we had to rely on the Atlanta Falcons to upset the Panthers and they went ahead and mailed it in the second half.

Then, I remember waiting till the later game Eagles vs. Commanders, and watching the Eagles use questionable playcalling to lose that one, and keep us out of the playoffs. We then proceeded to go out on the field that night and implode vs. the Rams..

It is satisfying friends to look at the clock and have a feeling you're in before the 2nd round of games even start up. We held destiny in our hands this year, and it's a good feeling.. not like 2003, and 2005 whatsoever..
