Come on guys, the guy actually earns the praise today in that come back and I'm the one who needs to point it out? :D

I think I have the Tebow thing figured out. You need another QB to run the offense for most of the game, or just manage it, and then let him come in at the end as a closer.

Looked pretty sloppy for most of the game.

What little success he had in the earlier parts were all but crapped on by the kicker.

I think John Fox tried too hard to protect him from having to throw in the earlier parts. Everything was short dinking and dunking which really isn't Tebow's game at all......not that any part of his passing is better than the other.

He missed some wide open throws and he also had some nice throws got dropped. He had a pretty solid throw at the end but that TE really made that play happen. On one pass play he put a ball right on the money and it was dropped, a little later he comes back and throws a little checkdown to a RB and overshoots by like 3-4 feet over the guys head.

I think with Tebow you have to give him an opportunity to do what he does best and that's extend plays. Asking him to try to be accurate enough to run an offense that relies on shorter passing routes isn't gonna work for him. He just isn't accurate enough.

The guy isn't in there because he's a better QB than the guy on the bench. He's in there because he can make a play that the other guy cannot make and he can turn a would-be sack into a big run.

John Fox is gonna have to just pretend like they are down two scores from the opening kickoff.

I think a lot of people jump instantly into one of two camps when it comes to Tebow: Tebow is gonna be awesome. Or, Tebow sucks.

Personally, I think he'll find some success much in the same way Vince Young did at times in his career. He can make plays with his feet which will keep drives alive and give his team a chance to win some games However, just like Young, Tebow is not a reliable passer. That shortcoming will hold him back at the most inopportune times and when called upon to make plays with his arm.

There's going to be peaks and valleys with Tebow and I think you'll see a career that parallels Vince Young on the field.

He could have a solid career just being a "goal-line QB" and taking snaps once the offense gets inside the 5. He'd be a TD machine. Unfortunately, he was drafted way too high and a role like that would never justify his 1st round pick.

Sounds like a McNabb clone, switching out the 7 yard pass on 3rd and 8 for overthrows.

That guy sucked really bad for the vast majority of the game against one of the worst teams in the league.

I'm going to reserve my praise for a while. :D

I love the kid. I do. He's passionate and loves football. He says all the right things, conducts his personal life as a professional and really wants to win.

He's also the worst representation of an NFL Qb I've ever witnessed since Rick Mirer. Wow. Just wow.

Tebow and the Bronco looked pretty awful most of the game and Tebow has a lot of work to do in terms of his craft as a QB. However no doubt this kid has a winners additude and will fight to the very end.

Tebow was abysmal, and it was the Dolphins.

On the other side of that coin, Tebow's team is abysmal as well. He also lost his top target when Lloyd was traded. I am not a Tebow fan, but I am not going to dump on him for being a Bronco.

Fortunately he's on a bad football team so that you can't see how bad he really is.

I like Tebow and I want him to do really well. Now I'll admit that a lot of that has to do with fans being harsh about him based on two things (from what I've seen anyway):

1) The media was glowing of him in college.

- As if it's Tebow's fault that the media fell in love with him but it seems like a lot of fans just hate him because of someone else liking him.

2) He appears, from all things I've seen, read, and heard to be a very good kid with a great head on his shoulders and I guess in this world that's terrible so people want to see him fail simply because he's not out there doing drugs, partying or sleeping around as much as possible.

I mean shame on the kid for being a good guy. Damn him for daring to do something so evil as *gasp* not be a complete piece of trash.

Did he help find a way to win the game?

Yes.

As I've been told, billions of times (quite a few on these forums) stats mean nothing and the only thing that matters with a QB is the W's.

Guess that only applies when it's people defending Romo.

I think the problem people have with 2) is that so much is made of what kind of person he is and not his talent level. If the NFL were in the business of employing players of high moral standard instead of high talent level then Tebow would have a place. The NFL already has good guys at QB in Brees, Palmer, Manning, and Romo, they just do not get mentioned because they are good QBs first.

But again how is that his fault? What he's supposed to do about it? They seem to take it out on him for being that good guy and then the media and people focus on it.

It's not his fault that they focus on it so I'm not sure why it's used against him as if he has any control over it.

Tebow takes fault for having his "I'm going to prove everyone wrong" commercial. He hasn't done it yet and I doubt he will, that commercial was almost as foolish as LeBron's "go ahead and hate" commercial. After that the fault is with those who put him on the pedestal he does not deserve to be on. It isn't Tebow I take issue with, it is the idea that he deserves a shot based on things that are not football related.

It's not his fault, but because so much attention is given to him, we have threads like this one where people share their opinions. He's pretty terrible, so most people have a negative opinion on his play.

I don't see a Charlie Whitehurst thread, but if someone decided to make one, I'm sure most people would agree he sucks too.

Both good posts with good points.

I'll admit the guy isn't a talented QB in the regular QB sense. I would never argue that because to do so would be quite foolish.

I just think the kid has some of that IT factor and just seems to be a winner who works his butt off and does his best to give his team a chance to win at the end.

I like that about a player, even if they're not the most gifted natural talent at a position.

Charlie Whitehurst doesn't get his own segment on every ESPN show or a dedicated draft watch website from ESPN either. He gets media attention so fans will give him attention as well.
