What options does the team have to replace Tyron?

  • Trade for a plug and play starter like Wynn from the Patriots
  • Sign a fa starter, this late might be too difficult to find one.
  • Shift green rookie Tyler Smith to LT and McGovern starts at LG
  • Move Zach Martin to Right Tackle, insert McGovern at RG, Steele moves to LT
  • Move Zach to LT and insert McGovern at RG.
In any case, the team HAS to sign or trade for a veteran Tackle due to lack of depth purposes.

They have had to obtain a swing tackle for several months and have not done so.
So don't underestimate Jerry’s stubbornness

Your last suggestion is my guess at what they do.
I would do your first choice.

Has to be Fisher or Jason Peters. Supposedly they said Peters actually played really well last year even at his age. He was with the Bears on a one year 1.75 million deal too.

Play the backup. It is what it is. The offensive play calling will have to adjust. Probably can’t run complicated route patterns or nuffin

My guess is they either don't want to play or they want more than anyone is willing to pay them. Peters looked like he was stuck in cement when I saw him last year and Fisher hasn't been the same since tearing his Achilles.

They may both get work, perhaps even in Dallas, but they're more familiar names than quick fixes at this point.

The ONLY thing this offensive line has going for it is run blocking/strength. There are so many warts, but I do think this is a capable run blocking unit. The interior line has plenty of size/strength, Steele is perfectly adequate and we were likely already planning on a ton of 12 personnel this year I expect. And given that the strength of the team is now the defense, I'm ok with that.

Where this will get bad is when the Cowboys are chasing. When they have to go to 11 or S11 and chase points. Dak needs to find his running legs again this year.

Zach Martin will not play tackle unless there is a game where there truly are no options. The team will almost certainly sign someone after roster cuts or one of the available free agents, but almost certainly the answer will be either Tyler Smith, Waltzko or Josh Ball. Ball is the most likely because he's been practicing there. He may also be the worst choice - possibly better to play Smith there - assuming McCarthy was telling the truth that McGovern is better than he is at this point.

Nah! Current players just need to step up a bit!

Do the same thing they did to our previous 73 when he was a rookie: Put him at right tackle and put Steele at left tackle.

They have to sign an available Vet. Like @Aven8 mentioned, I think Peters is the guy. Now I sincerely hope Tyron Smith retires. His body and his luck are not supporting his ability to play anymore. Many thanks to one of the best HOF LTs to ever play.

Yep. Tyron is an all-time Cowboys great, but the way his body is breaking down, I'd be more concerned about his life after football.

It's absolutely NOT stubbornness...more like stupidity. Signing Dak for all that money and then neglecting the Oline is.....just what really bad organizations do. Can't stand him or his crap eating grin kid.

Sorry, but I didn't see this and started a similar thread (although I screwed it up and accidentally put RT instead of LT in the title)

In any case, this is what I put as options:

LT Ball
LG Tyler S (Assuming McGovern doesn't start)
C Biadasz
RG Martin
RT Steele

LT Tyler S.
LG McGovern
C Biadasz
RG Martin
RT Steele

LT Martin
LG Tyler S.
C Biadasz
RG McGovern
RT Steele

LT Steele
LG Tyler S.
C Biadasz
RG McGovern
RT Martin

LT Steele
LG Tyler S.
C Biadasz
RG McGovern
RT Martin

MY PERSONAL FAVORITE: Sign or trade for a new LT

Right now, both the running and passing games are on crutches.

Injuries will continue to beforced into the lineups...sorry, but true.

Pretty simple. Number 1. We like our guys. Number 2. If they were any good they wouldn't be available. PS. This was an avoidable train wreck that almost everyone could coming. As Parcells always said. You cant get around stupid.
