What Packer Fans are saying about Sunday

I usually creep on the opponent's message board before a big game to get their thoughts. Here are a few snippits from a Packer forum:

"GB will need to concentrate hard on stopping Elliott, but we can't "lose" Prescott running the ball...think he'll have some nice runs"

"Nice offensive line match up as well. I know it's not the prettiest facet of the game but PFF had the Packers offensive line at #2 heading into week 5 and the Cowboys at #5."

"Zeke Elliott and that OL of the Cowboys will be a big test for sure. Sounds like Dez may try to play on Sunday. I would be fine with him giving that leg more time to heal and just waiting until the week after the Cowboys upcoming bye."

"Dallas is going to be a tough test. One mistake that many teams are making is not selling out to stop their running game. They are letting Dak play from ahead rather than behind, and letting their offense be multi-dimensional. We need to stop Zeke in early down situations, and force Dak to have to throw the ball in 3rd and long situations. MM needs to mix the offense up like he did in the first 2 or 3 drives last night and move the ball down the field, score a couple of early touchdowns. And then we will see if Dak will be able to beat us through the air. I don't think he is going to be capable of that, especially if we are able to use our pass rush to put some pressure on him. I think this is going to be one of the more entertaining games of the year, but I also think that Rodgers and the offense will finally expose that Dallas defense, and that Dallas ultimately won't be able to keep up. Definitely don't want to play a low scoring game. 28+ points and Dallas won't be able to keep pace."

"I have confidence that our run D will stop Dallas' rush attack. Their passing game will suffer while relying heavily on their run game. If our O clicks it's game over for Dallas. Rod will take advantage of their lack of pass rush! If we mix it up by heavily relying on our run and slot plays our O should come out on top. Hopefully Cobb and Lacy are at full strength. We will expose Dallas weakness causing a stampede in their organization that will raise questions if they really want to keep Dak as their starter QB."

"The Cowboys are going to be a good test. I'm sure they'll still evoke some memories of the 2014 playoff loss as well for inspiration."

"I'm wondering what Capers will come up with. Not to take anything from Prescott- he's been outstanding- but 5 weeks in, opponents are starting to get a book together on him."

"If Bryant and now maybe Williams don't play on Sunday, its going to be mostly about stopping the Cowboys on the ground, including Prescott. This won't be the first time Capers has had to scheme for a very mobile QB and running game and with the way our front 7 are playing, I'm pretty confident in what they will do."

"I think the Defensive personnel this year will be better at stopping Prescott and Elliott. I would be happy to keep them under a combined total of 100-125 yards with no big runs. But that Dallas O-line will be the best we have faced all year, so that might not happen."

"So yes the DL has looked impressive in all 4 games, but my optimism is guarded due to who they have looked good against, this being below average OL's and back-up RB's. Sunday will be a big test of just how legit they are. Dallas has one of the better OL's in the NFL, as well as an excellent RB in Elliott and a mobile QB in Prescott."

"I expect Dallas to have some success running the ball but I think if we can hold them to around 3.5 or less a carry, we'll be in good position to win by more than a TD assuming we start catching the ball more consistently. A good start offensively for us is imperative imo."

"This will obviously be the toughest test to date. Their offensive line is the real deal and Elliot is every bit as good as I thought he'd be. He's fast, explosive, hits holes quickly and bursts right thru them. A lot of times he has a freeway lane to run thru too. I don't know who Dallas has all played and where they rank, but I don't need to know that to know they're good."

"Again, I agree our numbers look great, but add to what you said the fact that besides AP, who didn't look that impressive the week before, we have only faced back-up running backs in putting up those numbers. As I posted, imagine our offensive run production if Lacy didn't suit up for those 4 games. Dallas and Elliott will be a legitimate measuring stick of our run defense."

"There's no doubt the Packers haven't faced a good rushing team so far this season but allowing only two yards a carry is impressive nevertheless. I agree that the Cowboys will present a huge test for the team's run defense."

"While I won't argue with some of the rankings on the Packers run defense being #1 or #2 in the NFL, I'm not so sure how they got there is convincing enough for me to feel comfortable until i see it repeated this Sunday against Dallas."

"Honestly, I don't think The Packers will have as much trouble with the Cowboys as people think. If we contain the run we should be good. Dez is hurt, still not sold on the rookie Prescott. NFC is fairly weak in general except the Vikings, and its their defense that makes them good, offense is average. Rodgers typically starts slow but comes on strong in the end so all should be good."

"I haven't watched Prescott that much, but when I have he reminded me more of Russell Wilson then Tom Brady (article). Smart game manager, makes good decisions and throws, able to rely on a strong running game while also being able to take off and run when he needs to."

"I'm confident the Pack D can hold Elliott under 100yds and out of the endzone! Especially the way Daniels and Guion have been playing thus far. Include Perry and the way he's playing the run with the return of Pennel who may be in the best shape of his career set to return to clog up the middle. Then finally our young ILBs Ryan and Martinez are both playing the run well so far. Time to nut up or shut up!"

Nothing outrageous here. Sounds like some fairly level headed posts. Yes they have a few that sound cocky but they really aren't, they just have confidence in their team. Just like we have a few of our own fans that say we can go in there and pound them to the ground.

Sound like a few has some respect for our team, as well as being real about their team and as to what OL and RBs they have faced. We will be a test to their D.

The one thing I think both sides will agree on, it will be a good test for both teams on both sides of the ball.
Should be a good game, but I hope we just put the smack down on them like we did the Bengals.
The thing is, we can't let up and let them get a few scores late. Rodgers is not Dalton or is that Dalton is not Rodgers. Not yet.

zeke is right. the more physical team wins. we out physical them in the trenches. its game over. we have to out will them in the trenches. that oline needs to play all out and i have every reason to believe they will. they havent seen an oline like ours this season. it should be a bit of a shock to them. war of attrition. if we can sustain long drives it will help our d like it has before.

dak says our oline is the heart of our team. he is right. we go as our oline goes. if thats clicking everything else clicks.

watch the trenches yall.

Funny,
I wonder if their posting some of our quoted Zone rants and opinions about our players/coaches/GM and the game on their board? With the ginormous difference of opinion on the Zone, they would probably be shocked at how we can rip into the smallest detail about our team/coach/GM yet call ourselves Cowboy fans. Would not have it any other way.

I love that a guy who clearly hasn't watched many Cowboys games this year thinks that he has the key to beating them, and that 5 NFL coaching staffs did not.

I see a whole hell of a lot of cocky Packer fans in those posts (thanks, @okstateCowboy for posting this).

Need we remind them that their once infallible QB is regressing at a rate almost never seen in a QB of his greatness, and that in that link we will probably find no less than 5 threads of those cheeseheads freaking out about "is this the beginning of the end" of ARod.

Over the season he is throwing at a whopping 56.1% and only has 876 yds and a meager 87.7 QB rating. These are woeful for any starter through 4 games, much less the once almost unanimous best QB in the league.

This isn't the same QB we faced in '14. He is scared in the pocket and has lost his touch on his deep throws.

I've said it over and over in these threads, everyone in Packerland is scared. They are starting to call for McCarthy's head. Even the media is going after him (Mike M) and he's freaking out in said press conferences.

They're gonna be a great test, but we can beat these guys with our Dak, who is frankly, playing better ball than Aaron Rodgers right now.

Also, Zeke Elliott and our Oline. We're gonna punch these pretenders in the mouth.

I think it's interesting how almost everyone assumes the Green Bay front-seven will be man handling the Dallas OL and Elliot instead of vice versa.
I'm surprised that these GB fans are so confident that their defensive line will be able to both pressure Dak, contain his ability to run, and shut down Zeke....

They are drinking a little to much of their own bath water up Wisconsin.

Someone who hasn't drank the Packer run D greatness koolaid...smh.

They haven't faced anybody who runs the football well and nothing but back-ups! Watching the weekly shows and they go on and on about Packer's D and I am frankly sick of it...they haven't stopped a top back for 4 quarters and they've been susceptible through the air (even Eli should've torched them with any semblance of accuracy). If we avoid turnovers and negative plays (e.g., sacks and big returns), I think we can beat this team fairly handily. Moreover, weather conditions are a non-factor. If OUR defense comes to play, we can even dominate...my two cents. This version of their squad doesn't phase me one bit.

packer fans have a right to be confident in there team. they have had winning seasons in the last ten years now and also a superbowl victory. what have the cowboys done the last ten years nothing. I really would like to see the cowboys win sunday but I still think that the cowboys will lose again. I do not trust that the defense can stop Rodgers. Rodgers always has great games against us no matter what his numbers look like this year so far.

This has a feel going into the game very similar to Seattle in 2014 - going into a very difficult place to play where the Cowboys haven't played well. For many people, this is a show me type of game, just like the Seattle game was. The DL will need to play with the same urgency and effort as they did last week. OL needs to control Mike Daniels and Clay Matthews. If they can block those two, then the Cowboys can win. If they can't, then they won't.

Also, Randall Cobb could have a field day against Anthony Brown. Cobb has worked Scandrick pretty good in the past. Brown's inexperience could be an issue.

Very least we signed Tony Romo (undrafted), All Time Cowboys Passing Leader. And drafted Jason Witten (3rd round), All Time Receptions Leader. So not all bad things happen to his franchise.
