I'm looking at this in terms of immediate impact. So I am especially hopeful about Gerald Sensabaugh. Igor Olshansky is a close second.

And here's hoping that Keith Brookings has enough left to be an asset.

This Brandon Williams just gives me lots of optometrist in our future.

Does that help you see into the future or something? ;)
I love a good malapropism.

I'll go with Sensabaugh. He could represent the biggest upgrade at any one position on our team. We may have had the worst SS situation in the NFL last year. Even if Sensabaugh is average, it will be an upgrade.

Gerald Sensabaugh. We have been waiting for the final pieces to fall into place for our secondary. He may be it.

Newman is solid, Jenkins and Scandrick are both oozing with talent and Hamlin should return to all-pro form. The future is bright for the secondary in '09 and Sensabaugh should play a major role in that department.

I'm going with Mike Mickens
With guys like Mickens, we're going to have a boatload of cornerback/safety talent this season. He was a great draft selection.

Pretty excited about Keith Brooking as well. I think a lot of Zoners will see a marked improvement over Zach Thomas in this unit.

Gerald Sensabaugh.

Next season, the Cowboys may be able to field two legitimate cover safeties for the first time since Darren Woodson retired. The defense will finally have the ability to run an effective cover 2 consistently.[/quote

I'm not so sure about Woody's coverage ability...I always thought that was the weakest part of his game...he got burned a lot...that's about the only negative about his game though.

My hope is Gerald....man that would make for a great year. I'm leary though...if he or Ham go down...it could be a lonnng year back there.

Stephen McGee

I really think he can become a good quarterback. He is no where near ready, but should be fun to watch in preseason.

Give him 4 or 5 years behind Tony and let him learn how to become a pro and I think he will be ready. I think he can suprise many people.

This for no other reason than now we have a legitimate developmental QB on the roster. No more Richard Bartells or Matt Bakers.

Keith. Olshansky worries me with the back issue.

Igor - I just like the name and story[/QUOTE

must admit that i tend to be hooked stupidly by names....Victor Butler sounds like a player to me.....but then again so did Shante Carver....and Tom Brady didnt.

I have nothing to justify this with but for some reason Victor Butler gives me a Ratliff type of feeling. A hard worker, high energy type of player who could come into his own after college.

Gerald Sensabaugh and Igor Olshansky are my veteran choices.

I'm excited about our special teams additions as far as coverage. I guess to me that primarily means Hodge, who is a wrecking ball. But I think Butler and Williamses will also contribute on coverage. I see a lot of athleticism attacking. I'm hoping that means turnovers and no more worrying that every return will be a game-changer for the other side.

ST have been the weakest spot for us and the one thing that has concerned me. Now I think I will love our O and D and ST!

same here, he would be my pick

apparently he's uber-smart, and should be ready to play by Day 1

Deangelo Smith or Mickens.

I'm also very intrigued by Manny Johnson.

I'm not getting excited about any of the rookies or the 4th and long winner until I see them against NFL players in the preseason. Of the veterans, I'm equally geeked about Olshansky and Sensabaugh. In some ways I view Roy Williams as a new addition because while he was on the team and saw the field, he really wasn't ever "added".

Not a sexy pick, but I'll go with Kitna. Really puts my mind at ease with him backing up. Also great mentor for Romo.

I know guys will say Beuhler Ballbricker but I'm going with Sensabaugh. I think he will turn this year into big payday for himself.
I'm on the Sensabaugh wagon, too. But not just because he's in a contract year. Last year, the Cowboy's led the league in sacks, despite having to routinely hide our SS's; in other word's, one less player rushing the QB. This year, if Sensabaugh can cover as effectively as everyone seem's to think he can, the Wade defense in it's purest form will be unleashed for the first time in Wade's career as a Head Coach and/or Defensive Coordinator. He finally has all the pieces put together to be dominant. Needless to say, I'm really looking forward to it.
