What position could we improve to make the greatest impact?

Would y'all who are saying RB be willing to take one in the first?

I keep thinking (realistically, fantasizing) about trading the first for an elite safety or DT/NT and bringing in a RB in the second.

The only RB I'd take in the 1st round would be Gurley. There are others relatively close in stature to Gordon.

Tevin Coleman comes to mind in that sense and as someone the Cowboys are said to covet.

DT or DE would certainly seem to qualify as being likely to have an impact in the first round.

After the Hardy signing and Mc staying another year I would go with the one tech DT.

I've been saying this since 2012, but I think this year is a great year to draft a QB late to groom. Perhaps even as early as the third. Some very talented guys who may, under the right coaching, grow into starting quality QBs are available fairly late. If Bryce Petty makes it to us in the third I would be willing to give it a shot.

So your draft plan could consist of two corners in the first four rounds and another pick devoted to a bad QB class.

Where do I sign up to pay to watch that dumpster fire?

My choice would be CB or linebacker.

It seems like having a NT is the most important to some here. But I don't think so. I think we can easily fill that position without having to use a top round pick.

We need either a CB badly to play opposite of Scandrick. If they decide to cut Carr then CB is the number 1 choice. If not I would go with a good linebacker who can play sideline to sideline and rush the passer at the same time.

Linebackers can make an immediate impact on this defense and that can't be more true than having the impact that Ro had last year.
Give me a good linebacker. With Ro and Lee and a new linebacker in the lineup, plus Hardy, I think this defense can become really good.

LG, Both S spots and 2nd WR are currently manned by below average starters imho.

Everyone else is at least at league average. And yes I think McFadden plus RW and Randle hit average(tho barely) at RB.

But in this draft not sure any of those spots are legit r1 targets.

DE, CB, RT, RB probably offer better values. Tho I am not drafting rb round 1.

Since we let our workhorse back go to philthy I say we need to secure that position first. We were so successful last year due to being a run first and run second and throw third team. Unless we want to go back to a pass first pass second and run third team then we need to know who is going to be giving us what Demarco gave us.

Yes we need NT ect....but the reality is that whoever is our RB will be expected to contribut in a huge way. Any NT or CB we draft may not even see the field often.

LB is not a pressing issue, with all those guys we signed in the offseason plus McClain resigning plus Lee coming back. Neither is a DE, he is gonna be too far down on the depth chart, waste of a 1st round pick, since we dont know if Hardy will be back next year. We also are having short term memory/living in the moment when it comes to Murray, he had this one good year and was hurt every year before that, but somehow people are not attributing that super year to the o-line, I dont understand that. We are fine with what we have at RB right now. I say go NT in the first round, hoping either Goldman or Brown. or either CB Kevin Johnson.

I was going to say General Manager would make the biggest impact, but lately, Jones has been doing a better job. That out of the way. D line at this point. If we can get a consistant pass rush that gets to the QB, that would make a huge difference and change the look of this team overnight.

Each year I think the answer to this question has been very apparent, however with the Hardy signing, I am not so sure it is this year.

I would say improving safety, but without a more reliable NT up-front it doesn't matter who we have back there, so I will have to say the position we can upgrade which will make the biggest impact immediately is nose tackle.

You just said 2 and both are wrong. The most important position to draft for might not be easy to improve upon but we might be able to try and match it and that is RB. We need a stud, not a McDud.

You just said one and it is wrong. We don't need a stud, we can make do with a McDud.

Don't worry for one second, my friend, we will absolutely draft another TE for the lulz.

Considering that the running game is the biggest reason for last season's sucess, an elite RB would be the most important position to add to the team. It may not be popular with some posters, but it is the most important by a wide margin.

This is pretty spot on, and why those who think we are just "one player away" are missing the big picture of the NFL in the salary cap era.
