What receiver should they sign?

As usual, the Cowboys' FO prefers to gamble for the FAs they can get for the least compensation. It's surely not designed to please the most demanding fans, but pleasing the fans definitely isn't their goal. They prefer to settle for the biggest gambles to be had for the cheapest costs available. As always, they rely on the draft to serve their needs. Being cost effective is their primary consideration.

Should they overpay for Kupp? Should they sign Tyler Lockett, Amari Cooper, or Diggs coming off the injury? I wouldn't do Diggs because of the injury. I doubt they would bring Cooper back. I would lean toward an overpay for Kupp on a 2 year deal. My 2nd choice would be Lockett.

That still wouldn't stop me from drafting a top receiver in the draft like Tet McMillan or Emeka Egbuka.
I wouldn't want to rely on Kupp. I heard he only eclipsed 30 yds twice in his last 7 games. He's gonna want 12+ mil a year.

Kupp is washed and Lockett doesn't give you anything over what we have. I would kick the tires on Elijah Moore. He's healthy relatively young and gets open.

I mean out of the big names, I like Keenan Allen the most.

Big target, played on a bad Bears team with a rook QB. Only year year off from big numbers with Herbert. Only concern would be health

Dallas gave Cooks a 2 yr 20mil deal, 2 years ago.

What about trading for a WR? Not sure any of the guys left in FA are really going to help. And since Jerry likes reclamation projects then why not trade J. Tolbert WR to Tennessee for T. Burke WR straight up. Burke still has upside and good size while it appears that Tolbert is about the same. Cost is minimal as Dallas would end up only being about 1 mil difference on cap. Might be worth the shot, you know, a former #1 for a former 2nd round pick.

My thoughts, its easy ,the one to bring in would be the one the coaching staff agree on.. IE that fits ther vison inthe neweish system..IMHO they are all about onthe same level talking about Diggs, Kupp, Lockett, and Cooper..

or just bring back Brandin cooks, seems pretty simple...

Why would you make a parallel move for a similar player.. making moves just to make moves doesn't make sense. If you really look at tolbert he's getting better, his numbers were almost as good as Kupps and Samuels last year with Rush thowing him the ball in a trash offense... . I'm not saying he's better but there's no reason to get rid of him, we have Mingo as the big project guy..

Brandin Cooks is not on the same level of these other guys mentioned....Maybe Lockett, he seems to be in legitimate regression.

no i believe he resigned with his last team..
Hes still a FA https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-2025-nfl-free-agency-tracker-signings-trades-cuts

This just shows that you have zero idea what you're talking about. First off if Burks is a similar player to Tolbert we are in a world of trouble. I call out Tolbert all the time but even I am not that down on the guy. Despite that though Kupp had 73 catches for 800 yards last year. There is no Samuels that plays WR, but I'm assuming you meant Deebo Samuel? He had 51 catches for 670 yards. Tolbert had 49 catches for 610 yards.

The big difference? Other than the fact that Tolbert was the worst statistically here of the three....

Tolbert ran 553 routes this season. Kupp just 426, Samuel at 420.

Tolbert did less with more and exactly why you can't just go off of basic counting stats in the NFL. Tolbert did improve this last season but he still put up WR3 numbers despite getting WR1 snaps. These other guys outperformed him while missing multiple games with injury.

They won't sign a big name WR, imo.

They will find it more veasable to keep searching for a productive rookie WR No.2 thru the nfl draft.

I believe they think they already have their #2 in Mingo so if you think they are going to sign a WR in free agency instead of drafting one you should look at names that would apply to a #3-4 receiver or a nme you've heard of thats coming off an injury or past his prime and can be gotten cheaply

Dallas really needs to sign a legit player somewhere.

DL, CB, or WR need to be addressed in FA.

We only have so many draft picks.

Room for development and role of scouting are issues at work as well.

Exactly. I have no issue with the buy low approach on young former high picks, but we have to get someone actually dependable at some point. Cant go into the season with nearly every position a roll of the dice.

Just how many home run hitters are there on the board now?
