If the Cowboys could select ANY player in this draft, which player would have the greatest impact on the team this year? I think it is Adrian Peterson. Johnson may well be the best player in this draft, but I doubt that he would improve this team as much as Peterson.

I guess an argument could be made that an outstanding free safety might make an immediate impact, or a pass rusher as well. I just don't see any "outstanding" pass rushers available in this draft.

If we're talking about any then I'd have to agree with you. The easiest position to adjust to from College to the NFL is RB, and Adrian Peterson is a darn good one.

I concur. Adrian Peterson would have a huge impact on this team. Also I would throw Gaines Adams into the mix as well. He and Ware would be sick.

Calvin Johnson will have the greatest impact of any player in the draft IMO, regardless of where he goes.

I would say Joe Thomas, while A.P. could provide a huge upgrade over J.J. I think a guy like Thomas could either beat out Flozell causing him to go to RT, or he could be an instant upgrade to RT and be groomed to take over for Flozelle.

Now if I could choose anyone, it would definately be Calvin Johnson or Adrian Peterson.

Johnson
Peterson = The biggest impact IMO...
Landry
Adams

I'm not sure outside those four...We're talking day one impact players.

I agree Peterson would have the biggest impact, your talking about a guy getting between 20 to 25 carries a game where as at WR will see an average of 6 to 10 catches within a game. I like Johnson and think he will be a very good one but I think elite RB make a bigger impact.

My thoughts exactly.

Anthony Spencer could come in and put up 8-10 sacks immediately. It's hard to find a guy that could be that productive immediately outside of the top 5 or so prospects like C.J. and Peterson.

Gosselin said he thinks Gaines Adams can get 12-14 sacks this coming season. As a 5 yr. vet that is Pro Bowl material but as a rookie I believe that is called high impact.

I would absolutely love Gaines Adams. The problem is, I don't want to do what it takes to get him. Spencer and a 3rd round pick (or more) are a much better value than just getting Gaines Adams.

Me either. I was just thinking of ALL available draft prospects who would have the most impact on the '07 Cowboys. I am throwing out the fact that we are picking 22nd and would have to mortgage the future to get any of these guys but I think Peterson and Adams would have the biggest impact and probably Landry.

The offensive line's run blocking improved somewhat last season, but it can get better. Hopefully, with the addition of Leonard Davis, it will get better sooner than later. However, the OL's pass blocking, with Romo behind center, improved more than its run blocking. Both Glenn and Owens had a very good season as a by-product of Romo + the OL's pass blocking.

IMO, if I had to pick which player would have the greater impact this season, I would have to side with Calvin Johnson over Adrian Peterson. A very good wide receiver would have an immediate impact from the first week forward--whereas a very good running back would have greater impact as the offensive line improved as the season progresses. If I had to choose beyond this season, I would have to flip-flop and side with Peterson since I would have the added expectation that the offensive line will only get better with a primetime back setting up behind them.

i think there is no question ap would make the biggest impact this season. of course i don't care just about this season and over the long haul cj would.
but of players we actually have a shot at i think ginn would because of his return skills. but i still don't want him.
