What rules would you change in the NFL?

How about if you don't catch the ball in bounds it's not a catch?
I'm pretty sure they got rid of the force out rule this offseason.

The day after the game, they study the game they just called. They go over it with a fine tooth comb. Any bad calls will be documented. The officials will then be asked to improve in these areas the following week. If they make the same mistakes again, they will be fined.

The refs get 2 days off in the middle of the week to spend with their families.

The rest of the time they are either watching game film, practicing their calls, practicing their positioning on the field, and working out as to stay in peak physical condition.
So then there will be no bad calls like in baseball and basketball?

I would get rid of all the "Cowboy Rules".. The Michael Irvin, Eric Williams, Roy Williams and The Marion Barber Rule...

why are u deflecting. we are discussing football. that is like if i asked how your marriage was going and you threw out something about your cousins marriage......WTH?

it is obvious you dont agree. we can leave it at that.

As far as NBA, it is the faster paced of the 3, and it is a lot more difficult to not make mistakes. Also, as seen by Donahy, the refs are shady and crooked.....but Stern likes em that way. Remember, the refs work for Stern. If you want the NBA to clean up the officiating, the refs need to operate as a separate entity, and not under the thumb of Stern. Superstars get the calls. Big Markets get the calls. If Stern wants that team to win, they will get the calls.

In the MLB, the calling of balls and strikes is subjective. Each ump has his own strike zone. that strike zone changes from game to game, depending on his mood I guess. The only way to fix it is to have some sort of electronic sensor that makes a box based on the batter's physical dimenions (height from knees to letters on uniform).....and makes that the strike zone. Otherwise, there will always be human error. As far as the double play goes, more often than not, the guy covering 2nd base never touches the bag when he has the ball in his hand or glove. However, the ruling is always the same, OUT. That's just baseball, it is full of human error. They did recently get replay and it has shown to work.

The Rule I wouldc change in the NFL is the rule that give the Pittsburgh steeler every damn call in every game in critical situation.. thus they would never win a superbowl again.

No bye weeks. It's frustrating to fans to wait for 2 weeks to see their teams play again.

No throwback jerseys. Live in the now. Screw the merchandisers!

No memorials on jerseys. Let the dearly departed have their day with a memorial or funeral, but not on the playing field.

Allow team and individual celebrations.

Allow the ball to be used as a prop.

If you could change any rules in the current NFL, what would they be? The obvious first choice is Kommandant Goodell's TD celebration garbage, so let's just get that out of the way.

I've got two.

First, a blocked extra point could be returned for a safety.

Second, an onside kick can be advanced by the kicking team.

Let's here what you've got and I'll bet there are some considerations to the overtime rules.

If a team is given a 53 man roster, then all 43 should be eligible to play on Sunday.

lol yeah i was gonna say something but decided to leave it alone lol

1.) Change the pass interference rule to 2 kinds flagrant (spot foul) and non-flagrant (15 yards or half the distance).

2.) Allow failed extra points to be returned the other way for 2 points.

3.) Expand the roster to 59 players.

4.) Make a fair catch worth one point for the kicking team.

Double or nothing challenge on 2 PT conversions?

How bout this...

A team may request a "double or nothing" challenge after a 2 PT conversion, by tossing a (green, orange, blue or whatever) flag after the play is deemed successful. If the request is accepted by the opposing team, this new rule allows the offense an oppurtunity to tie, force or enhance a lead with 2 more points, and or gives the defense an oppurtunity to take those added points off the board.

Personnel can be substituted for the play or extra plays due to penalty and can be reviewed but not challenged. Only one challenge per half and a (green or whatever color) challenge flag, will not be accepted immediately following a red challenge flag.

Kinda rough draft, but you get the idea.

I think owners, players and fans might be willing to give or take 2 points off the board, to add some more excitement to the game....maybe. :)

I'm ok with the rules but just call it fair. to many times they screw over a team by a silly call and not call the other team for the same crap.

Also please dont flag a player for celebrating a big play or being competitive. let them play the game and let the fans enjoy it.

the get it right rule:

in the event that a call has been made that was clearly the wrong call that call can be over turned so that the correct call can be made. this applies to every call on every play as well as no calls/non calls that should have been called.

the common sense rule:

in the event that during a play something bizarre or unprecedented occurs that is not specifically addressed, or is not fully encompassed by the rules that are in place, then that play as a whole shall be reviewed and the official shall use his best judgment in deciding what action to take that is the fairest for both teams.

Wow, i gotta disagree with all those.
I actually like the bye week, gets guys that are banged up healthier. Plus it gives me a chance to watch all the other games.

So you didnt like the fedora they wore after Landry passed?
