What Some People Missed From the Hatcher

When Jason Hatcher went off on Romo and some truthful Cowboy issues that have kept the team from winning a divisional playoff game since 1995, some of you missed a nugget that Jerry and Stephen Jones will be all over.

Jeffery Simmons the top 10-15 DT prospect from Mississippi St. is Jason Hatchers nephew. He is in a similar situation that Jaylon Smith was in coming off a late season knee injury that has his draft rating falling.

Simmons fits the criteria of a cheap gamble by the Jonesboys; top 10 talent, knee injury that Cowboys feel they have the best doctors to evaluate and treat, and the player has relatives that are or have been Dallas Cowboys.

So do not be surprise if we get another one legged project in the second round of the draft (see Sean Lee, Bruce Carter, Jaylon Smith, etc.).

We'll pick Simmons if he makes it to us. Totally a Jerry pick, and we'll need a DT to replace Collins in 2020. Simmons will redshirt a year on NFI, won't accrue a league year, so we'll have the rights to a 1st round talent for 4 years anyway, at a late 2nd round price. Total no-brainer if he falls to us, which I wouldn't count on.

Cool news. I’m from where Hatcher grew up and played high school. Watched him in high school at Jena. I didn’t realize Simmons was his nephew and also born in Lasalle parish.

Which probably plants him on Philly’s radar...

Does this team have two years to reshort this guy with so many rent-a-players on a team with an exploding cap next season? UNless this top ten player falls to the later rounds, I would suspect Dallas will be looking to find contributors in their first three picks.

Simmons has been hashed, re-hashed and re-re-hashed in the draft zone.

We will have to trade way up to get him. He won’t make it to us and probably not to the 2nd round.

I think it should plant him on any team's radar. But for the off the field issues, I'd think NE is first. Kind of what happened with Jaylon. NE was the other team rumored to be interested.

NE is the other team where the GM isn't worried about getting dumped. NE and Dallas GMs can take the long view. Belichick can too. Garrett could. Maybe still can, but I'm not sure of that now.

Hatcher, miffed the Cowboys didn't pony up, goes to the team where former Cowboys go to die, drinks the cool aid for a year or two, gets fully tainted and then starts crying about whatever he thinks could have been but didn't. waaa.

Maybe he should cry about how crappy Washington was when he was there.

Who do you see using a first on an injured player?
I could see the Pats or the Chargers doing it. I have heard on some sports radio that they are interested him. Could be a smoke screen though. I would love to get him but don’t see him falling to 58. I could also see maybe the Colts, Seahawks, or the Chiefs.

He won't last until our pick at 58.

lol, I think Hatcher going off on Rome is a buyer beware on the nephew. I remember Hatchers contract year very well. Fool would make a play and then run around rubbing his forefinger and thumb together in a "show me the money gesture". We didn't show him the money and he went on to an illustrious career without the luster. If that's in his nephews genes, PASS!!!!

Both from Jena LA (pretty much).

We all already know if he makes it to us then that will be our pick. Likely the reason we have went to FA to get a few to go with what we have.

The quote is "sins of the father passed on to the son". It's his nephew. Move on and get a top 10 DT.

Also, Hatcher had played 8 seasons for the Cowboys before he left Dallas and was in a back up role 5 seasons until Ryan and Marinelli let him loose (that's coaching/scheme and not the players fault). Therefore, he was not getting the 3rd contract. At age 32, he took the Skins money just like Deion Sanders did for his final year deal. I see the Dallas Cowboys and fans have forgiven Sanders. But, like I said, its his nephew and Hatcher was a Pro Bowler for the Dallas Cowboys.

Hatcher was always a stand up player, stand up person, went through a lot of family drama, was involved in his community, and is a G-Man. So I would draft any player he has been involved with or approves.
