You talking about John Lennon's "Imagine"? If so, you're a communist.
The tune is nice, but in my opinion, the lyrics are just a bland and over-simplified embodiment of that pop nihilism and moral relativism that was so typical of that era.
As for me being a communist, well I guess I beg to differ. If anything -- as BP and jem have pointed out -- the song itself is a sort of communist manifesto.
Lennon himself once described it as: "an anti-religious, anti-nationalistic, anti-conventional, anti-capitalistic song, but because it's sugar-coated, it's accepted."
I think that's really why I hate it so much. There are plenty of anti-establishment songs out there... but this one is the sappiest, most "sugar-coated" of the bunch. And in my opinion, the reason he made it so "sugar-coated" with such a pleasant little tune was so that he wouldn't threaten his commercial viability. It's fine to sing about having "no possessions" but tougher to live that way, eh John?
P.S. I'm glad SOMEBODY got mad about me naming that song, though. I couldn't believe that it was getting no reaction... I was starting to think everyone had me on "Ignore" or something.
