What the heck did Michael Irvin say now???

I'm listening to a Houston radio show (classic rock station) and they're talking about Irvin saying something about Romo's athleticism and how there must have been "a buck behind the woodshed" in his family tree. Meaning that a stud slave went at it with a southern belle way back when.

The radio jockeys are talking about it being racism against white folks (which is bogus in itself because we all know that Antonio Ramiro Romo is hispanic) and they're wondering where Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Quanel X are at.

When did Michael make these comments. Anyone know?

SORRY IF THIS IS A RE-POST.

Irvin made comment that Romo's running ability (don't see him as anywhere near the runner Elway & Favre were/are) would indicate he had a black relative somewhere in the past -- or something like that. I think he said it about a week ago & in his usual jesting manner. Just another effort to get at Irvin.

Is ROMO that fast?

Irvin must of had a White owner in his family tree since he is not known for his SPEED......just hands and running great routes!

People are too uptight over Race anymore. Get over it already. Mike doesn't owe anyone an apology. It wasn't said maliciously.

I dont think its ok to say myself. Whats the difference between that and the comment about blacks not being able to swim that whomever it was said (gm of dodgers?) and lost his job. Or Jiimy the Greeks comments who also lost his job

its total BS all the way around. If Steve Young had said what Irvin did, Young would be fired. Its BS.
In fact, if Dave Chapelle would've said what Michael Richards said, people would've said it was funny.
I'm sick of it.
If everyone's going to be so hypersensitive about race then the politically correct enforcement powers should enforce the rules in the same manner for EVERYONE!

It's all about the context in which it is said...

none - but sooner or later people gotta let go of the nit - picking "what about xyz, huh???" and just move on.

if mel brooks made a movie today, people would soil themselves in anger and that's just a shame cause mel brooks was DAMN FUNNY.

kinda last week to me.this has been debated over and over. when it comes to race we get mighty uptight about anything anyone says.to me if we really want racism to end then we gotta stop worrying about every little comment and whether or not it offends someone. if you stood on the street corner giving away $100..oo bills someone would find something offensive about it. time to move on

And that is cool mickgreen. But if we are totally candid about this then we need to realize that if a caucasian analyst or announcer would have said it he or she would have very well been fired. The comment could have conveniently been taken in self serving context. There would have possibly been outrage by the Jackson's or Sharpstons or maybe the New Order of Mystic Parrots.

Prejudice and racism runs both ways. The reality is that all races or cultures have a number of people that are prejudiced or bigots. It is a crowded and competitive planet and in any society the status quo wants to hold on to their visions of living reality.

Michael Irvin didn't really mean anything by it, but it was ill advised. He needs to be sensitive or aware of his position and the impact of his comments on the audience.

I'm black and it didn't bother me at all either like I said in another thread you have to be careful. People are uptight because many of my ancestors and relatives have died, been abuse and been affected very negatively because of their skin. Unless YOU HAVE BEEN AFFECTED you have no idea the pain involve. We need to relax and get to know one another and stop being so quick to judge folks.

Thanks.....I am glad it did not offend you because I did not mean to offend anyone.....only joking with what Irvin said.

I am White and Irvin did not offend me, however, if you are in a position like Mr. Irvin, then you just got to watch what is said......right?

I dunno GREENBACKS seems to have no racial boundries, sad but true.We are all put on this earth equal but the greenbacks in my opinion are what separates us,not the color of our skin.Take that out of the equation and you have a whole different world.
