What the Heck Happened to Our O-Line This Year?

The only change that was made in our offensive line last offseason was Sporano leaving and Houck arriving.

I really don't believe Kosier's absence was the main reason our offensive line looked horrible this year, and I don't see any other things that have changed from last year.

What do you all think is the main reason our offensive line looked like complete crap for most of the year? It led to the demise of our offense, that's for sure. It's almost like our offensive line's play in 2007 was an aberration. They weren't good in 05, 06 or 08 (at least not in pass blocking) and we finished 9-7 in those three years.

Flozell has to go.

He is the symbol for everything that is wrong with this team.

I thought it was a good move bringing him back after his season last year but he has officially tanked it.

He can't cut down on penalties and his blocking has been so inconsistent.

He was a real good player under Parcells and Wades 1st year.

We need a youth movement at that position.

A scrappy player who will give 100% effort.

I remember getting ripped when questioning Hudson Houck.

I have always felt that the players were the problem and a coach wouldn't have any effect on them.

Also, I use to defend Jerry Jones, but now I am convinced that he is part of the problem.

There are a lot of things I'd love to know about the inner workings of this team. Like what happened to the O line. What did Crayton mean when he cryptically mentioned the difference between a Tony Sparano running game and a Hudson Houck running game. What does Houck think about his O-line players individually.

Too bad the local media won't investigate those real issues, though. That would take work. Why actually dig for answers when you can recycle mindless "Wade is a fool" and "December collapse" stories over and over and over?

1) You can't have a cohesive offensive line when the guy next to you either sucks or hasn't been on the team very long.

2) Proctor is no better than a third stringer at guard. He's actually a little better at center, but still shouldn't be starting anywhere except in extreme circumstances. Holland seems better, and the unit definitely looked better when he was in there. Having to flip between those two and Kozier (with a different one in seemingly every week) had to hurt.

3) I think we all underestimated how important Kozier really is.

The O-line play can't be emphasized enough. The last month it has been abysmal. And it's not just about LG. It's bad play by Gurode, Davis, and Colombo.

And often, it's not about bad effort or technique. It's about wholly missing guys. I don't understand why blockers can't switch to the inside blitzer. They just let the inside guys run right by.

Everyone needs to look back to the past 3 years. Really, our O-Line has been greatly overrated. Romo being elusive made things seem better, but this has been going on for years...even when Sporano was here! We haven't run the ball on a consistent basis for years! That's the truth of the matter!!
