What three living football players...

Tough question. Living: Roger (no doubt), Lilly and Randy White.

Passed away: Landry (again, no doubt), Sweetness, Reggie White

Other teams: Darrell Green (one of the all-time football studs IMO), Fred Dryer (I was a big Hunter fan as a kid), Tarkington

Looking at my list, it makes me feel OLD! :D

active or retired, would you choose to have over to your house for a dinner party? And, what meal would you serve?

(and WG, you cannot have Woody over three different times)!

Roger Staubach, Bob Lilly, and Walt Garrison

I'd prefer to invite coaches, but it'd be the great StoneFace Duane Thomas, ("If it's the ultimate game, why do they play it again next year"?), the legendary so-called "nutcase" Joe Don Looney, who used to ask God how He liked "that one" after a score, and Bo Jackson, who claimed he'd run down his mother if she suited up.

With dinner guests, it's all about the repartee. ;)

PS I think Joe Don passed recently..I'd still invite him.

Oh, Duane is a big talker now.

All those years of not saying anything caught up with him. He'll wear you out, but he is fascinating.

And I agree with you about coaches ... I think they're more interesting than players.

My entertaining trio would be Don Meredith, Brett Favre, and Terry Bradshaw. The stories those three could tell covers about four decades of pro ball and has that good 'ol boy spin on it! We could take it on the road and give the Blue Collar boys a run.

Deacon Jones...legend; Cornell Green...funny, great storyteller;Jim Brown...need I say more

People:
Marcus Allen, Tom Brady and Charles Haley.

Meal:
Whatever Charles wanted to eat.

That's what I hear, Chief, tho I've never had the pleasure of meeting him. But I've always tried to keep up with his community and foundation work, and in printed interviews he comes across pretty talkative now. Imho, he's still damn hot too. :)

I'm for televised weekly panel discussions featuring retired and still working coaches....or at the very least, a game show.

This week's burning question: If YOU were Eldorado's HC, what would YOU do?

PS Looney was the one who, when asked to run a play into the huddle, told his coach, "If you want messenger service, try Western Union", was he not?

Gotta love it. :lmao2:

When I was 12 or 15 or so I may have "dreamed" about meeting Pro Football players, ... not any more.

If I was having any one over to my house for dinner, I would have a covered dish dinner and invite Jesus, and anyone could come, bring their favorite dish, and join us if they wanted to listen in.

Wouldn't that be awesome.

I have already had dinner with Fred Dryer. He was a student at El Camino JC in SoCal and my mom worked at the college. She always invited a few of the football players over for ThanksGiving dinner and he was one of them. He transferred to San Diego State the following year.

We also had Jim Zorn over one time when he was playing there.

Neither guys was famous back then though but it was still cool to meet them when I was a young man.

For the purpose of this scenario ..."I" (first person) would refer to Andy Reid (Head Coach of the Philadelphia Eagles)

Donovan McNabb (Offensive Captain/Leader)
Brian Dawkins (Defensive Captain/Leader)
Brian Westbrook (Offensive Captain/Leader)

And, what meal would "you" serve?

Philadelphia cheesteaks, Philadelphia hoagies, and Campbell Soup!

One step further ...we'd discuss strategies to bring back Eagles' lockerroom cohesiveness we experienced pre-Owens' era.;)
