Tomlin isn't getting fired. If he's "available" it's because he decided to part ways with the Steelers. He's still under contract for next season. That means that Pittsburgh would want (probably substantial) compensation for him.
As a personal comment, I'm friends with a lot of Steelers fans. To a person they have wanted him gone for several years now. They constantly mock his press conferences, can't stand the fact that he can't seem to win in the playoffs, don't like the fact that recently he's a winning coach but just barely. IMO, he's a solid coach but he's not going to win 12 games with the QB roster they have right now. Pickett was a bad draft choice and set the team back 2+ years.
