With Witten retiring and a supposed trade for Earl Thomas with our 50th pick, might we start making calls about a trade with a team like the Colts to acquire a couple of extra picks. What could the cost be and would it be picks from next year we don't want to part with or picks/players in order to get back into the round.
Really don't like the idea of giving up next year picks but with the Witten retirement don't think we can wait until Day 3 to get a TE and really still need DL help at DT. If the Earl Thomas trade is really going to happen then I feel good about the LB and secondary but definitely still need DT then TE then OG then WR.
Don't much care for this but what if we did something like this:
2019 #1, T. Crawford, J. Heath to Colts for #36, #37 and #67
36. Dallas Geodert TE South Dakota St.
37. Harrison Phillips DT Stanford
50. Traded to Seattle for Earl Thomas
67. Braden Smith LG Auburn
81. Anthony Miller WR Memphis (his medical concerns could easily push him into the 3rd)
Just trying to see how we do this but if no trades going to be dicey getting the help we need.
