What to do with Bohanna and Gallimore?

Are you saying Bohanna and Gallimore don't need to step up?
I'm saying that they are what they are. They're depth DTs the same as every team has.

More importantly, I'm saying that the issues with the run defense are heavily exaggerated, so it's not realistic to assume that churning the 4th and 5th DTs on our roster will have any noticeable gameday impact.

Bohanna will certainly be on the hot spot with us now having two 1 techs in Hankins, Mazzi, don't see us with having a necessity of two 1 techs on the roster.
After the NTs, there's usually a DT that can flex at both 3 tech/1 tech, as i believe Watkins and even Gallimore did at some point.

Maybe with todays' version of the practice squad, we could stash a Bohanna, and be able to draw him up.
But otherwise i don't see a true player. just JAG at this point.
Kinda wish we gave Ridgeway more of a chance to make it. But drafting Mazzi, and re-signing Hankins placed us in a great position

This could be Snack Harrison 2.0 and Hankins combo the way the Giants dominantly stuffed the middle during 2016 era.

We are not that deep at the 3 tech, and i'm still not quite sold on Osa. We gotta see if someone beats out Gallimore, if we will add a promising newcomer
between the NFL draft and post draft FA, But with no Watkins, who backs up Osa ?
And Golston is not full time DT.

Both their contributions thus far are replaceable.
Add a late pick(s) or UDFA(s) and see who the best man/men is left standing from camp competition.

Let them battle it out in camp, but even so they both may need an injury to make the team at this point. I have to believe Hankins, Mazi, Osa are locks. Golston should be pretty secure as well. I don't see the Cowboys keeping more than 5 DTs on the roster.

My guess it they'd keep Bohanna over Gallimore. Bohanna I think at least flashed at times last year. Down side is that he is a 1T only. Gallimore has more position flex, but really hasn't been good anywhere you put him. He can occasionally be a presence in the pass game, but the Cowboys have a long list of players who can do that from the 3T. Gallimore has been an absolute disaster in the run game.
Time to trade Gallimore and try to get a quality backup Olineman or WR.

He has. He was a 2020 3rd rounder (18th pick - 82 overall) and just hasn't lived up to that draft status. It's been 3 years so moving on from him will be a easy decision for me. Although looking at that draft class, the only draft pick after Gallimore (173 picks!) that has been voted to the pro bowl is our own Tyler Biadasz.

This is where I'll be paying close attention to how many reps Mazi gets at 3T in camp. If they view him as someone with position flex to play multiple alignments on the DL he can basically take over the Gallimore role. If not and he is strictly a 1T it would be hard to justify keeping 3 1T only types on the roster.
I’m pretty confident Mazi is strictly 1T and largely a two-down player. I don’t see any pass rush capacity. I think we officially declare Bohanna a bust as no way we can keep 3x 2-down players on the roster

As we have it now it's Hankins, OSA, Smith, Chauncey that are the locks to make the team at DT

Should bohanna and Gallimore be thinking their days are numbered?? Please give your thoughts
I assume mazi.will work his way to starting line up by early season and Hankins is the back up rotation guy. They are both th 1Tech guys. OSA is the 3 tech guy and if mazi works out he will get a lot of opportunities to show case himself and Rush the passer up the middle.

Bohannon is 3rd string 1 Tech. May need this year to round into shape and be the back up next year

I would support moving on from Gallimore with a 6th or 7th round pick.

Also, for this team I think having three NTs is fine because they have so many DEs (Golston/DLaw/Sam) that play the 3T on passing downs. Call me greedy, but I want another DT to add to this group of Osa, Big Hank and Mazi.

Gallimore, Osa, and Bohanna are the kind of players that will always be on the edge of losing their spots. They were always and always will be guys who last 4-5 years in the league. That’s actually typical for Day 2 and 3 draft picks. They are decent, hard working role players, but not long term answers.

The other thing is good organizations are always churning the roster. Mid-late round draft picks are usually not on NFL rosters that long. There are exceptions of course but I doubt the guys we’re talking about in this thread are long for this league.

Sucks we lost Watkins cause out of that bunch he was decent, Galli flashes against the skins but is completely silent every other game it seems. I think he was decent against the niners but honestly that game still makes me too mad to rewatch.

I think Bohanna is a jag and probably needs to go. I think Gallimore, might benefit from Mazi. Felt like he gained weight to try and play the 1-tech and was not as good as he was in his rookie year. Maybe he can get back to concentrating on the 3-tech and slim down a little bit.

Should have kept John Ridgeway. He played better for the Commanders last year than Gallimore and Bohanna combined did for the Cowboys. Huge mistake by Dan Quinn and Mike McCarthy to have cut Ridgeway over these other 2 JAGs.

We'll probably see 2-3 more DTs added later in the draft and with the undrafted FAs. Im sure the front office would love to find younger and cheaper replacements for these 2 players who really haven't established themselves.

If Bohanna was everything they’d hoped for, they’re likely not drafting Smith and signing Hankins. That leads me to believe that he’s not long for this team.
We probably dont have room for him. I say draft Jerod Clark late, find a way to stash him on IR and cut Bohanna. Clark is a TE turned NT from a small school. If he can remake his body, he could be a Jordan Phillips type player
