What to do with extra cap money if not spent on Murray?

If Murray gets signed away in free agency, do you sign more of your own free agents like Bruce Carter or make a run at a top available defensive free agent?

Much of our "extra money" will be eaten up by franchising Bryant. We can restructure Tyron Smith to create extra space but have a lot of our own guys to resign. They are working on a Beasley contract. We need to sign two of the three linebackers we have. We might consider bringing back Dwayne Harris considering that he really is a swiss army knife for our team. Kick returner, punt returner, gunner, and physical blocker as a WR that the team will run behind. Then there are players to consider such as Spiller and Spencer. I haven't even mentioned our right tackle position. Do we keep Free or Parnell? Plus, we might want to extend Leary at some point as well. The strength of our team is the offensive line and we may want to keep them intact for four to five years.

there is no extra cap money.
we have 20 free agents.
right now they've probably got a spreadsheet with a budget for each open spot.

if you let randle and rwilliams battle at RB with perhaps a rookie you may see some salary shift to DL but a lot depends on whom is available and what Murray gets offered elsewhere.

This.

It's not like this team is going to have loads of extra cap space after having to franchise Bryant and commit 13mil of this year's cap to him.

They need to re-sign
Dez
Beasley
Parnell
1 or 2 LBs of Carter, RoMc, Durant
Maybe Harris
Keep Carr with a pay cut or use the money saved from making him a June 1st cut to sign a free agent CB.

They need to add 1 top end free agent pass rusher or possibly 2 mid tier DL.

All of that needs to be done with or without Murray. If Murray is not re-signed they will need to draft a RB to go into a rotation with Ryan Williams and Randle.

The 2015 salary cap is not really the limiting factor. They could sign any and everybody if the 2015 cap was the only issue; however, they won't do that. They will make their decisions based on the future year's cap ramifications.

They should sign Greg Hardy for DE whether they sign Murray or not. In fact he is the one player besides Suh I would bust any budget for. If they get Hardy and lose Murray they could draft Gurley or Gordon at 27.
