What Walt Garrison does these days...

Well, I'm going to have to give his stuff a try.

I'll post a review later.

Awesome.

After all, he was the only Cowboy who really was a cowboy. Back in those halcyon days, he actually rodeo-ed in the off-season -- today, big-money contracts will hardly let players do so much as jump on a bicycle, much less bulldog a steer.

I remember those old tobacco commercials, Skoal I think?

Just a pinch between your cheeks and gum. :laugh2:

That's it. Good stuff, though I hated Skoal, I liked Red-Man.

I thought I liked it until I had put a pinch between my cheek and gums before football practice and swallowing after making a tackle then getting sick and throwing up later.

Reminds me of the story Walt told about Staubach who was trying to be one of the boys and tried some chewing tobacco during film meetings. Walt said a few min later he could see Roger turning green then racing out of the film room to puke out the window. :laugh2:

I heard that Landry made it a team rule after that to never give Roger tobacco.

Yeah I think Walt said that as well in the book "Once A Cowboy"

One of my all time favorite books a must for any Cowboys fans.

I thought he used to own a barbacue place - large - out in the Dallas / Fort Worth area?

My very first jersey was a Walt Garrison jersey, got it for Christmas when I was a kid. I wore that thing to death.

Was it Walt Garrison that made that remark about Landry smiling? Probably gonna mess this up but it went like this........

"No I never did see Landry smile, but I was only there like 8 yrs":lmao2:

Yes, Garrison said that when asked if Landry ever smiled. He said he had only played there 9 years. He did follow it up with another joke. He said he knew Landry had smiled at least 3 times in his life because he had 3 kids.

Walt Garrison was such a unique character, and without a doubt one of the toughest players to ever put on a Cowboys uniform. He played the 1970 NFC Championship against the 49ers with a broken collarbone and a terrible ankle sprain, yet was still an effective runner and receiver that day.He was a key part of those early 70's Cowboys teams with his versatility, and was well liked by his teammates and Cowboys Fans.

My absolute favorite Garrison story will always be his nickname, "Little Puddin."
