What was the 4th and 1 call? why did Romo drop back 15 yards

No clue why he threw it to the sideline on that 4th down. I realize he was running away from the pass rushers but just lob it up to the center of the field...give your receivers a chance at least and maybe you get a deflection or pass interference. Hell, toss it underhand like a bride tossing a bouquet since he didn't have time to set his feet, just get it up there

Three huge defenders in his face while he's drifting backward and to the right....running for more time and no receivers close to him.

Have you try to throw a strike while running backwards?

Witten wasn't even that close...it looked like he had to come back to Romo once he saw he was in trouble and Romo just panicked and threw it to the him in the vicinity. At that point, you gotta just realize I'm in trouble, maybe I can get the ball up there and turn it into a hail mary for the other 3 receivers on the field, even if you throw it blindly. Hope that they see it and run to the ball.

Romo had a serious case of "lock-onto-Wittenitis" on that play. He had receivers open on the opposite side of the formation, but he was always going to Witten, when it turned out he was covered, Romo had no idea what to do. Of course, it didn't help that the O-Line and Doug Free in particular allowed a jail break.

He locked onto Witten at the snap of the ball; he never looked back to the other side of the field even before the jail break. I don't blame him actually--Witten is the only receiver he can trust (maybe Miles on a good day).
