The very first vehicle I ever had was a 73 Mercury Couger. This one is very similar to mine. I have no pictures of the one I owned. My dad was afraid to give it to me because it had a suped up 351 Cleveland engine with a Holly 4 barrel carburetor. It had the classic S/S Crager mags.

My first car ....... My dad bought it for himself when I was a baby ...... 16 years later I paid him 500 dollars after secretively having my friends dad change the transmission in it.

Drove it until i was 24 ........ got hit by a truck and totaled it.

I still dream about that damn car.

My dad had a 61 Impala he was going to pass down to me but someone offered him more money for it than he could refuse.

Walked home from school one day and there was a 1970 Camaro sitting in the driveway, my mom's boyfriend bought it for me. Only downside was being that the car was from up North it had a little rust in the wheel wells. Did every bit of the 150 mph on the speedo though LOL

This isn't it, but my first car looked just like it. A red (this color exactly) 1979 Camaro. My parents surprised me with it in my Sophomore year of high school. (Saying I had to pay for half of it, and pay for insurance for it).

I've seen these kinds of threads before on other sites and it's amazing how many camaros, trans ams, firebirds, corvettes, mustangs and other muscle cars everyone got as their "first" vehicle.

I've had several friends that tell those stories too despite me knowing the truth .. :)

They simply do not count the mom's old clunker, dad's old beat up truck, the family suv/wagon, grandpa's Buick/Oldsmobile, etc. they got before that or in some cases, instead of that cool vehicle ..

To be honest, I think my Dad got the Camaro for me so he could work on it and "test drive" it around. lol before they got me the Camaro, I had to borrow my mom's Jeep Cherokee on occasion. I never got to drive it to school, just take it out occasionally to hang out with friends, so it was not MY first car, I just got to borrow it. My first car was the Camaro..

I had 2 friends that got older camaros as seniors and one who got a new firebird (which was totaled a month later), but none of those were their first cars :D

Back in the day muscle cars were a dime a dozen. You could get a five year old car for pretty cheap. Easy to work on as well. Muscle cars and pickups dominated the HS parking lot.

This wasn't my first vehicle, but it was nearly identical to the first one I bought myself ..

I also installed a $7k stereo system in it ..

Only thing I didn't like about it was that it was rear-wheel drive and light on the backend so rainy weather and turns were an adventure ...
